The Art Of Raising A Child
<view this essay>.... Baby Tina refuses to eat her spinach, she is not to leave the dinner table until her plate is squeaky clean. She now understands that iron is vital for her body. When the little ones are running and screaming in the hallway, they are told to "walk slowly and play quietly". Suddenly, we have created well-mannered, soft-spoken, and gracefully striding creatures.
Have we really? Or are we creating the opposite of what we intended?
The most important rules of parenting are often unknown, or overlooked:
1. Respect Your Child. Treat your child the way you want to be treated. The fact that Tommy's body is smaller doesn't make him less of a person. He has feelings, c .....

Women's Suffrage

to women's rights. This convention attracted lots of attention from the press,
mostly negative. One of the organizers, Elizabeth cady Stanton, welcomed even
the negative attention. She said “It might start women thinking; and men to;
when men and women think about a new question they the first step is taken.
Because of their involvement in the abolitionist movement, women had
learned to organize, to hold public meetings, and conduct petition campaigns.
As abolitionists, women first won the right to speak in public, and they began
to evolve a philosophy of their own place in society. When the 15th amendment,

The Need For An Anglo American Lifestyle
<view this essay>.... Cubans assimilated into the American culture by opening
businesses, restaurants, night clubs, and by holding prominent political
positions. In doing so, the Americans felt as though the Cubans were
trying to recreate pre-Revolutionary Havana. However, the Cubans only
wanted a better life. They had no intention of mixing with the American
culture. The Japanese Americans assimilated into life in the Manzannar
internment camp by making their surroundings as they were in Japan,
creating lush gardens filled with cactus plants and rock gardens which
resembled Mount Fujiyama (100).
Both the Cubans and the Japanese were deemed less than American.
The Cubans wer .....

The Media
<view this essay>.... none of our business. I think that the media should just
publish pictures, and then let you choose who you want to feed.
There is also the possibility that the only reason that big news
companies just need filler for their network, so they go to another country to
find some story on miserable people. If I was in some tribe in Africa or
something I would not want anyone bothering me by putting a camera in my face.
I would want the money to buy food, but if someone over in America just needed
my story for filler, I wouldn't be too happy.
It should be the tribe's leader that should have to get the tribe out of
trouble in any way that he could. It is not our .....

Child Labor
<view this essay>.... the surface of this complex
problem.
Since so many children find themselves in this situation, UNICEF,
an organization working under the UN, realizes that it will take time for
the problem to be solved. However, with approximately 250 million children
working world wide, something must be done. A first step for worldwide
awareness is for people to realize that most child labor doesn’t take
place in old, run-down factories, but in unregulated parts of the economy
such as agriculture and domestic services. Surprising to most, even
countries such as the United States still have their share of problems. In
a recent awareness swap between American and B .....

Car Accidents And The Elderly
<view this essay>.... Elderly drivers show an increased effort of self-protection in their driving habits relative to mid-aged drivers (persons between the ages of 25 and 64 years). They not only reduce daily driving, avoid driving at night and during busy hours, and avoid driving on highways, but also drive at lower speeds (about 4 MPH slower) and carry fewer passengers (about 5% fewer).
“Despite their increased effort of self-protection in their driving habits, the elderly still show a higher risk of crash and injury than the mid-aged drivers”(Thrive Online. News Poll. 1999 ).
When the elderly adjust their driving habits, they consider the risks they face, but not the .....

Legalizing Of Homosexual Marriages
<view this essay>.... This ruling makes Hawaii the first state to recognize that gay and lesbian
couples are entitled, by law, to the same privileges as heterosexual
married couples (CNN). Under the Full Faith and Credit clause of the
Constitution, this also forces all states to recognize these marriages as
far as federal benefits are concerned. Congress has approved a bill, the
Defense of Marriage Act, that will allow states to decide whether to
recognize homosexual marriages. The second part of the bill would define
"for federal purposes" as the union of a man and a woman. Under such a
definition gay and lesbians, even if they win the right to marry in Hawaii
or elsewhere .....

Gender And Relationship Of Children
<view this essay>.... teachers have been examined as
possible causes of sex differences during play.
The aim of this paper is to critically review the recent literature in
this field and determine whether or not sex differences occur in play. If sex
differences occur, the possible reasons for this occurrence will also be
examined.
Review of the Research Section
Maccoby (1990) summarized a number of studies to support her hypothesis
that suggests different social situations may either heighten or suppress sex
differences in behaviour.
One study was that of social interaction between pairs of young children
(Jacklin & Maccoby, 1978). Pairs of 33-month old children were broug .....
