Single Sex Schools
<view this essay>.... of girls. The same happens to girls in s ingle sex schools.
In a school of single sex, the students will feel mor e comfortable and
relaxed in this way.
The students in grade 8 would probably start to enter into their teen-
age years. These teenagers because of curiosity, would have interest in
trying to understand the difference between the two se xes, such as life
style, interest, etc. Being in the same classroom ev ery day this might
not be able to let them concentrate well enough on their studies.
Besides the above advantages, studying in a single sex school would
also keep attendance problems to a minimum. Boys and girls, being in the

Censorship In Society
<view this essay>.... If a movie is given an ‘R’ rating, then kids who are under seventeen can’t see the movie. So the people making the movie are forced to censor their material, so that a younger audience can see the movie. Also, some movies are deemed inappropriate and theaters will not play them.
Music is heavily censored, because some believe that music is the reason for most teen violence. They have stickers that are labeled ‘Explicit Lyrics’ pasted on them, or the bad word is simply ‘beeped’ out, along with that small portion of the song. It ruins the song. One band, the Insane Clown Posse was banned because of their lyrics, and their name. I may not list to the ban .....

Poverty
<view this essay>.... are a number of changes that take place. Some can
be large and some can be small. People would think that small changes
would not be as significant as large changes. The real truth is that
people do not realize that the little small changes add up to equal a large
change. Changes lay the foundation for which type of person will belong to
a certain social stratification. Anytime a change occurs one must beware
that they might be entering into a crisis.
In the Chinese culture, if one would break up the word crisis, they
would find that the word means opportunity and danger-threat. One might
gather that the word crisis is bad, but it could also re .....

The Population Problem

decrease in grain production per person of 12 percent (Brown 31). Also
strengthening to Malthus' argument is the theory that the world population will
increase to over 10 billion by 2050, two times what it was in 1990 (Bongaarts
36). Demographers predict that 2.8 billion people were added to the world
population between 1950 and 1990, an average of 70,000 a year. Between 1990
and 2030, it is estimated that another 3.6 billion will be added, an average of
90,000 a year (Brown 31). Moreover, in the 18th century, the world population
growth was 0.34%; it increased to 0.54% in the 19th century and in the first

Sexual Violence Against Women
<view this essay>.... one of the most serious problems across Canada. "Recent surveys of letters to the editor indicate that most women feel that sexual harassment is the norm and not the exception." For me personally, I cannot believe that this is accepted by women. Women need to stop being so weak. We have to stand up and take action. This is not acceptable! Most women have male bosses. If they are harassed they tend not to report it, for they are scared to lose their jobs.
Sexual harassment is any unwanted sexual advances, comments or requests that make one feel uncomfortable. "Sexual contact or threat of sexual contact or coercion for the purpose of sexual contact .....

Feminism And Gender Equality In The 1990’s
<view this essay>.... as an oppressive force in their life. I find many parallels between women’s experiences in the nineties with Betty Friedan’s, in her essay: The Way We Were - 1949. She dealt with a society that expected women to fulfill certain roles. Those roles completely disregarded the needs of educated and motivated business women and scientific women. Actually, the subtle message that society gave was that the educated woman was actually selfish and evil. I remember in particular the searing effect on me, who once intended to be a psychologist, of a story in McCall’s in December 1949 called "A Weekend with Daddy." A little girl who lives a lonely life with her mother, d .....

Peer Pressure
<view this essay>.... person making a decision based on what their friends consider is good, rather than what they believe is the right thing to do.
It may happen at a party where everyone else is drinking, which leads you to think that you have to have a drink in order to fit in. It may also occur driving around with friends one night and the driver is driving too fast, but because you don’t want to look immature or scared in front of your friends you choose not to say anything and may risk your life because of it. On a smaller scale, can happen when your shopping with friends and the sweater you love is considered out of style by your friends. Based on what your friends think, .....
