Controversial Pornography
<view this essay>.... controversial in society today.
Similar to the varied responses to the red splotch of paint, photographs, video
tapes and paintings portraying nudity and sexual content receive a number of
clashing opinions. There are artists who paint and photograph nudity and
pornography who find the human body and sex portrayed in many forms to be
beautiful. However, there are also many extremely conservative individuals who
take offense to such "artwork" and find its contents appalling. And those who
enjoy the nudity and sexual content exhibited in pornographic materials should
marvel and delight in its details. Those who do not should simply look away. In

Women On The Street
<view this essay>.... Many babies go from the hospital into the shelter system, never
knowing what it is like to go home. Women are another subgroup of the homeless.
Solutions to homelessness are not easily found. But before we can solve
problems, we must be sensitive enough that we create the will to find the
solutions. Often if we do not feel the problem, if some emotional response is
not made, we are not moved to seek solutions. We are often unmoved to even
recognize the questions. We cannot afford to keep walking by.

Is Television Good Or Bad?
<view this essay>.... home.
Schools often use television as a way of educating students because on television, they can demonstrate many things that cannot be done in the classroom, and often show things that cannot be experienced in the country or area where the school is located. I think that this is an excellent use of television and more use should be made of it in education, because it offers many advantages to classroom teaching.
The drama serials on television are neither entertaining or educational. These shows simply depict "real life" (in the broadest sense of the term) and therefore do not teach or entertain (otherwise life itself would be entertaining!) I think that thes .....

Education In Public Schools
<view this essay>.... on and it has been replaced with humanism. One example of humanism in our schools is that they teach evolution, not creationism. Some people believe that this problem is happening because of the removal of God and prayer in public schools; the U.S. Supreme Court did this in 1962. Beginning in 1962, SAT scores plummeted. Teen pregnancies, teen sexual diseases, teen suicides, teen alcohol, drug abuse, pornography, and illiteracy rates abruptly increased 200 to 300 percent. Violence is one of the main factors effecting are schools today. Rape is a growing problem among juveniles. A juvenile commits one out of every five rapes that occur in the United States .....

Adoptees And Identity Formation
<view this essay>.... formation of adoptees and nonadoptees?
The National Adoption Center reports that fifty-two percent of adoptable children have attachment disorder symptoms. It was also found that the older the child when adopted, the higher the risk of social maladjustment (Benson et al., 1998). This is to say that a child who is adopted at one-week of age will have a better chance of “normal” adjustment than a child who is adopted at the age of ten. This may be due in part to the probability that an infant will learn how to trust, where as a ten-year-old may have more difficulty with this task, depending on his history. Eric Erickson, a developmental theorist, disc .....

Mockery Of Native Americans
<view this essay>.... Native Americans.
One reason Native Americans should not be used as mascots in professional and collegiate sports is the costumes that the mascots are dressed up in sacred outfits only worn by leaders of the Native American tribes. When they wear these they look like authentic clothes and chiefs. When they dance around like wild men it is mocking a chief. Since all Native Americans look up to the chiefs of the tribe it is not respecting them or their whole tribe.
The Native Americans would also like to be treated with the same respect that other racial groups have gotten. The African American people were mocked with a doll with a big black head and huge lips .....

The sociologist Max Weber characterized bureaucracies as rationally created formal organizations that dominate modern societies, have hierarchical level of control, and are based on specific rules of procedure. Weber recognized that bureaucracies existed in preindustrial societies such as ancient Egypt, ancient China, and in the Roman and Byzantine empires.
