.... bacteria infested. I couldn’t guess what color the toilet seat was supposed to be because it was slimed in filth. A roach scampered out from under the seat and stared at me blankly for a second, only to scurry back to its hiding place. I quickly relieved myself and tiptoed to the sink. While cleansing my hands, the very sight of the sink made me wonder if using it would clean my hands or only contaminate them more. Globs of traveler’s toothpaste stuck to the cold water handle were teeming with ants, and clumps of hair gripped tightly to the drain. After thoroughly washing my hands under the hot water, I blindly grabbed for a paper towel from the mold cov .....

.... obvious that Amina's mother is scared of how the father will react if he sees that her daughter has painted people from the Bible. Amina and her family are muslims, that's why her mother can't accept the drawing Amina brings home. The reason why she doesn't want the father to know is that he's the dominant one in the family. Maybe the mother is scared that he will punish Amina, or maybe even the mother, for not bringing up her daughter properly. Then Amina's mother teaches her to draw patterns from the Koran. Amina likes to draw the patterns and she is no more confused. Next day at school, they're all going to draw nice Christmas cards. Amina draws the patterns .....

.... He is not allowed to laugh or sing for any reason. These are a couple of hardships that Equality has to face so far in this mixed up society. His troubles get greater and greater until finally he does something about it. All through his life, Equality thinks he is not capable of accomplishing anything. Through time though, he discovers that he is capable of doing many things by himself and more importantly that he is an individual. When he is in the tunnel, he discovers a light. This provides him with the confidence that he is able to do things. Other experiences, such as falling in love with Liberty and seeing his reflection in the pond also help him to .....

.... I never expected what was to happen next. As we drove down the street, the suspension on the car suddenly snapped. The car violently jolted to the right and the car was thrown off the road and onto a hill. The car was inches away from flipping but luckily no one seemed to be hurt. That experience really changed how I thought of my life, or so I thought. The next major experience was during this school year. I went out to a party one night, and I never expected to get into problems. I had a little to drink and I guess it clouded my mind so I had a lot more. I didn't think I was drunk until it was too late. The whole night blacked out and when I awoke I was in .....

With my feet still securely anchored, and paddle in hand, I realized that I was in a precarious position as the raft was being thrown around like a rag-doll in the turbulent waters.
