Character Sketch Of Antigone
<view this essay>.... especially when she is speaking to Creon about her reasoning for attempting to bury her brother. She reflects every aspect of a hero by trying to sneak out not once, but twice and then even more by standing up to Creon. All of these heroics, however, in a very short time make her look very selfish. After Creon tells her the story about her brother’s bodies, she takes the stance that she must bury her brother for herself. That all but erases the thought of her, as a hero because all of her actions that were thought to have been done for Polynices were only done to satisfy her own needs.
The one characteristic of Antigone that seems to be constant throu .....

Hamlet: Brutal Truth
<view this essay>.... 2, Scene 2, where an "honest" conversation (sans the gilded
trappings of deceit) takes place between Hamlet and Rosenkrantz and
Guildenstern. Via the use of prose and figurative language, Shakespeare
utilizes the passage to illustrate Hamlet's view of the cosmos and mankind.
Throughout the play, the themes of illusion and mendaciousness have been
carefully developed. The entire royal Danish court is ensnared in a web of
espionage, betrayal, and lies. Not a single man speaks his mind, nor
addresses his purpose clearly. As Polonius puts it so perfectly: "And thus
do we of wisdom and of reach / By indirections find directions out" Act 2,
Scene 2, Lines 71-3 .....

The First Movie
<view this essay>.... Breakfast. It showed a baby eating breakfast which was, of course, Auguste Lumiere's daughter. The movie was quite simple with three characters, the mom, the dad, and the baby. The Dad would feed the baby and the mom would wipe her chin. After the baby takes a few spoonfuls of her cereal, the movie ends. This first movie was received with an enthusiastic round of applause.
This pioneered the movie business. From this humble beginning came movies with actual plots. Of course, they got a bit longer than this first minute and half. The movie business flourished in the twenties, but when the Great Depression came along the it suffered greatly. As the economy .....
