Macbeth: Guilty By His Actions Then Lady Macbeth Is By Hers
<view this essay>.... Duncan.
Furthermore he did some killing on his own. Lady Macbeth did not have any
involvement in these cases. Based on these facts, Macbeth would be found
more guilty than Lady Macbeth.
The very first murder in this story was committed on Duncan. This crime
was planned by both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The actual murder was done by
Macbeth, making him more guilty of the crime. Lady Macbeth just talked
about committing the crime, but she never actually went through with it nor
would she ever, and that is all that counts. Talking about committing the
incident is very different from actually doing it. Lady Macbeth did a
little more than just talk about it .....

Hamlet’s Hamartia
<view this essay>.... both Hamlet’s mother and father. Hamlet finally learns to act on important matters, without having to ponder over them for a very long time.
Hamartia is a literary term defined as one’s fatal flaw. Every character must have at least one. “ Hamartia, as Aristotle describes it, merely qualifies heroic perfection (Levin, 133).” is excessive thinking. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so” (5, ii, 230). His constant hesitation is attributed to rationalization. It is his hesitation, rationalization, excessive thinking, all combined, to almost literally become his fatal flaw. It is his indecisiveness that almost kills him.
Althou .....

Macbeth: Good And Evil In One Human Heart
<view this essay>.... Macbeth withstood the “terrible numbers” and in the end “victory fell on Scotland”. King trusted him completely “O Valiant cousin! Worthy gentleman!” and appreciated his effort in war by giving the title “Thane of Cawdor” to “noble Macbeth”.
A pronouncement made by three witches that Macbeth will be King , served as the primary catalyst for the development of evil in Macbeth’s heart. Macbeth struggles with the choice, should he let the witches prophecies realize themselves, or should he take steps to achieve them. Under the cloaking shadows of his skins, Macbeth hides his one weakness-that is ambition. His wife knows of his ambition and stirs to ac .....

Macbeth: Destiny Of Each Character Is Pre-determined
<view this essay>.... Many of the characters, events, and much of the imagery in Macbeth
indicates that fate plays a prominant role in advancing the plot. The
characters most easily identified with having supernatural powers are,
obviously, the three witches.
The Witches' ability to see into the future is demonstrated when Macbeth
becomes thane of Cawdor. The line, "What? Can the devil speak true?"
showes Banquo's surprise at the realization of the prophecy.
But, would the Witches' prophecy of Macbeth's royal promotion have come
true had they not made Macbeth aware of the possibility? There was no
reason to warn Macbeth of the fate in store for him, since it is mos .....

Use Of Contrasts In Act I Of The Tempest
<view this essay>.... 31), and who had quickness,
lightness, grace, and total control over his actions. On the other hand,
Caliban who represented the body, couldn't control his actions and thus made him
the opposite of Ariel. He even tried to rape Miranda once, but was stopped by
Prospero in the process. In fact, it might even be safe to say that Caliban was
anti-Ariel, being slow, stupid, and lazy.
Gonzalo and Ferdinand were also contrasted in this act. In Act I, scene
I lines 28-33, Gonzalo made fun of the boatswain by saying that he didn't look
like the type to drown, instead he resembled more of the type to be hanged.
Thus implying that no one on the ship would drown. Thi .....

The Missing Dialogue In Antigone
<view this essay>.... leaves the reader to determine the importance of
Antigone and Haimon not speaking together alone before their deaths. When we
look at the nature of the drama, we see that the point Sophocles is trying to
make is a political one. The absence of Antigone and Haimon speaking alone
together adds to this political atmosphere and does not inject the play with a
question of romantic love and/or loyalty. Family bonds and loyalty are the
crucial issues instead.
The central question of this play is a political one. What should have
more power within a society, the divine laws of the gods or the laws of the land
and the mortal rulers? Antigone is a representation of .....

Romeo & Juliet: Friar Lawrence Is Short-Sighted
<view this essay>.... traits is how good intentioned he
is. He may do something out of the ordinary if he thinks the outcome will
help someone he cares for. For example, when he says "In one respect I'll
thy assistant be; for this alliance may so happy prove, to turn your
households rancour to pure love."(Act 2, Scene 3), he is saying that the
only reason he will marry Romeo and Juliet is because he hopes that the
marriage will end the hostilities between the two houses. When he says
"Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift, and hither shall he come; and
he and I shall watch thy waking, and that very night shall Romeo bear thee
to Mantua." (Act 4, Scene 1), he tells Juliet ho .....
