A Streetcar Named Desire: Complexity Of The Main Characters
<view this essay>.... thing and left the 'beautiful dream' and married Stan, Blanche hung on to it unable to move on and face reality. Blanche comes to Stella in an unbalanced state of mind in need of her sister's aid. The impression is given that this isn't the first time Stella has been there to help Blanche through a time of trouble. As much as she needs her help and as much as she respects her, Blanche strongly disapproves of her sister's new life. Stella tolerates Blanche's continual criticism of her husband, home and friends very well. From this and many other incidents throughout the play we see what a tolerant and adaptable person Stella is.
Stan and Stella's relationship is .....

Dante's Peak

But before we talk about volcanoes, what is a volcano? Here are some things I learned in my spine-tingling, exciting and fun-filled class of Nat Sci II!
What is a volcano?
When Volcanoes in the Cascade Range and Alaska erupt, they frequently do so explosively and produce pyroclastic flows, ash falls and "mud" or debris flows (lahars). According to the USGS, "Lahars destroyed houses, bridges, and logging trucks during the May 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, and have inundated other valleys around Cascade volcanoes during prehisto .....

Hamlet: Revenge

was the fact that Gertrude, Hamlet's mother, remarried so quickly to the brother
of the dead King. The brother would be the one who would betray Hamlet.
Horatio, a loyal friend to Hamlet, was on night watch outside the castle,
he told the prince of an incident when they saw an apparition who resembled
King Hamlet. Hamlet came out the next night hoping to see the ghost. Sure
enough, the ghost appeared and called to Hamlet, wanting to speak with him. The
spirit talked about how Claudius poisoned the King while he was sleeping, "Tis
given out that, sleeping in my orchard,/ a serpent stung me² (1.5 .....

Hamlet Was Weak And Diminutive
<view this essay>.... indolence and thoughtfulness
again.
Hamlet’s first scene with his mother reveals a weakness other than
his father’s death. The quote, “I have that within which passeth show, /
These but the trappings and the suits of woe,” is used by Hamlet to mock
his mother for her lack of grief for his father, her dead husband. At this
point in the speech, Hamlet may merely mean that his grief for his father
is genuine, but “passeth show” may also mean that he has some sort of
feeling that can’t be shown by “the trappings and suits of woe” --his black
clothing and cloudy face. These feelings that may very well be hidden from
his own conscious are - what I believe - a tr .....

Romeo And Juliet: Shakespeare's Metaphor Of Comparing Man To Plants
<view this essay>.... virtue. The issue of man's two sides can be
thoroughly discussed over the gothic novel of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.
Some critics believe that the “creature” was prone to evil from the onset, that
it was innately in his being, while others argue that the treatment the “
creature” received from humans pitted him against mankind into an evil and
revengeful state. Shakespeare, however, in his extended metaphor comparing man
to plants, holds the opinion that there is both decency and infamy in man. His
opinion can be compared to the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis
Stevenson, where Dr. Jekyll is innately pure and kind but because he tries t .....

A Streetcar Named Desire
<view this essay>.... order to stop the mental distress that she had already obtained. She desires a fairy tale story about a rich man coming and sweeping her off her feet and they ride away on a beautiful oceanic voyage. The most interesting part of Blanche is that through her unstable thinking she has come to believe the things she imagines. Her flashy sense of style and imagination hide the truly tragic story about her past. Blanche lost Belle Reve but, moreover, she lost the ones she loved in the battle. The horror lied not only in the many funerals but also in the silence and the constant mourning after. One cant imagine how it must feel to lose the ones they love and hold .....

The Character Of Macbeth
<view this essay>.... ‘Macbeth' is a compelling study of how ambition
can destroy you, so the audience are interested in Macbeth's character.
Our first impression of Macbeth is of a heroic, famous, popular man who is well
liked by the king - Duncan refers to Macbeth as ‘noble Macbeth'.(Act 1 Scene 2
L67) Macbeth is tempted by two sources of external evil - the witches and his
wife, but he was already ambitious, and they only increased this by making his
ambitions seem like they could be reality. The war hero becomes a murderer and
then dies a shameful and violent death. Shakespeare creates an atmosphere of
evil and darkness mainly through his language, although scenes containing .....
