Three Famous Writings
<view this essay>.... a tooth for a tooth." In Egypt, in the Book of the Dead, a man couldn't proceed into the after life
unless he was found innocent of any wrong doing on Earth. In Confucius' writings, he never actually says
the word "justice", but he does say "Great Man cherishes excellence; Petty Man, his own comfort. Great
Man cherishes the rules and regulations; Petty Man special favors." To me, that mean "Great Man is fair,
Petty man is unfair."
The second of these three values is responsibility and respect to one's family and elders, and
responsibility and respect to others families and elders. This is most evident in Confucius' writings. He is

The Evolution Of The World

the need for any latitude or longitude. Before hand, there had been more
than six hundred maps created, not one having this holy city as the
center. There was nothing new about putting "the most sacred place at
the center" says Boorstin. The Hindus placed Mount Meru, a mythological
70,000 foot high mountain at the center of their map. In the Muslim
faith, the Ka’bah in Mecca was the highest point on earth and the
polestar showed the city of Mecca to be opposite the center of the sky.
As one can clearly see, many maps, had different centers. Each map had a
different center, each based on a different religion. .....

The Sugar Act in 1764, put a tax on sugar, molasses, wines, and other foreign products. This upset one Samuel Adams. After having lived in the colonies some years and being a successful merchant, He felt that the law was particularly unfair for merchants, as they were the most taxed. Stanely Kubrick

While Kubrick and Lynch share the distinction of being trailblazing auteurs who broaden the scope of cinema, their bodies of work, style, and world views are vastly different. Kubrick, whose body of work centers around the dehumanization of man, is separated from Lynch whose body of work centers around a character's discovery of self in an amoral world. Thus, it is often found that Kubrick focuses on exterior themes such as man as a symbolic figure, while Lynch focuses on intensely private themes such as a character's discovery .....

Before the gold discovery of 1848 the state of California did not even exist. The population of California was not high enough to have a state constitution or to join the United States. One historian describes California as “The country the gold-seekers came to was a land of magnificent proportions, of great natural diversity, of extremes and opposites. Nature had done nothing on a small scale” (Seidman 99). California at that time had a population of around 14,000 .....

It also prevents the government from "abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Since the early history of our country, the protection of basic freedoms has been of the utmost importance to Americans. In Langston Hughes' poem, "Freedom," he emphasizes the struggle to enjoy the freedoms that he knows are rightfully his. He reflects the American desire for freedom now when he says, "I do not need my freedom when I'm dead. I cannot live on tomorrow's bread." He recognizes the need .....

On June 24, 1812, Napoleon led an army of 640,000 troops onto Russian soil. The Grand Army, as it was called, was three times the size of Russia’s army (77-78). Most of his army was separated into three main armies. He led a group of about 220,000 himself. About 80,000 men were led by Prince Eugene de Beauharnais to the right rear of Napoleon.
