Sex In Advertising
<view this essay>.... the men and women we see in sexual advertisements do not actually depict the average person. Instead, advertisers create a stereotype that will appeal to the opposite gender's needs and desires. Attributes that appeal to male stereotypes include power, prestige, good health and longevity, sex, and new experiences. Attributes that appeal to female stereotypes include comfort, family affection, tenderness, fear, romance, generosity, and sensory pleasure.
Advertisers, therefore, use actors or actresses who can trigger an emotional response from one of the above-mentioned attributes, encouraging the consumer to buy the product. Since effectiveness is gender linked, .....

Day Of The Dead
<view this essay>.... dead in the form of fruit and certain other things that the specific person
liked.
The day of the dead is not a day grief nor does it have to do with
anything tragic for the Spanish speaking world, actually it is a day of joy and
happiness. It is celebrated all over. People wear bright colors and masks as
well as elaborate clothing. People can even make a business by selling things
associated with death, some of these things can include candy skulls and paper-
mache masks which later were made out of plastic.
There is actually two days that are celebrated with death. There is one
for children and one for all the rest of the people. The day for children i .....

Male And Female Roles In Society
<view this essay>.... reveals the future roles of men and women. If one deviates from these expected roles especially in my culture, that person is labeled as not knowing her place, disobedient, arrogant and a show off. As an Indian female I am consistently reminded by my society what is appropriate behavior for a woman and my place in society. One realizes that men can exhibit behaviors associated with a dominant role and be praised for it. Ironically, attending a university and receiving an education requires dominant characteristics such as competitiveness, aggressiveness, confidence, etc. Bearing these qualities has served as a hindrance to being accepted by my society. A Civil Rebuttal
<view this essay>.... The knowledge that we as a unity try to
strive for have made us, again as a unity, divides. I asked myself exactly how
we have achieved ‘civilized chaos' in the search for our solutions and
resolutions of the very ‘virus' it seems we have caused. I would not of course
go so far as to say a civil war between the generations within this house, but
moreover to express that simply by me using philosophy, it becomes not only my
benefit, but a mutualism between us.
Please feel more than obliged to correct me if I am incorrect (morally
or politically) but are we not all philosophers ourselves? As a baker's
vocation is to bake, a philosopher's vocation is t .....

<view this essay>.... many innocent lives. The children just do it because they probably seen a movie ith a lot of shooting and violence which inspires the young mind to act upon it. Since their young they don't know much so they just do it just to act out the same thing like the movie.
A way to stop this dilemma is for the parents to explain to their children that violence is not the key to the solution. If their children have problems to solve in a differnt manner. Another way to solve violence in our society is to stop letting them watch violent movies and television shows. That would reduce the corrupting of the young minds, since kids feed on what they see now a days .
Many c .....

Censorship Threatens Freedom Of Speech
<view this essay>.... sale, to include certain books from public schools, to censor and silence magazines and newspapers, and to limit controversial books and periodicals to the general public. The suppression of reading materials is suppression of creative thought. However and whenever these attacks occur, they usually fall in at least one of the following categories: obscenity and violence, religion. What is obscenity? Clearly something hard to talk about constructively. Obscenity is difficult to discuss honestly. After all what makes something obscene? It is something too vague perhaps to be defined. It’s an elusive term we use, but can’t explain. Different people often .....

Gender Marriage And The Cold War
<view this essay>.... let go of. The two authors make use of the science fiction genre, to shed light on the growing dissatisfaction of the status quo.
Vonnegut gives the reader a clear look at what he believes will happen if there is no change, and Heinlein provides a perspective of how untrue gender stereotypes of the time were. The Puppet Master turns the tables on men and women, by showing that men can cry, and that they can show fear. By comparison the female protagonist (Mary) is shown to be smart, savvy, and able to hold her own (sometimes surpassing) her male comrades. Paul and Anita by contrast have a dysfunctional (and loveless) relationship because society will not allo .....

Welfare Reform
<view this essay>.... a welfare state, the government offers programs to protect
citizens against economic risks and uncertainties at some, or all, stages
of their lives. All forms of financial aid and welfare services given by
governments to their welfare recipients come from taxes paid by the
citizens and corporations of the United States. In other words, money is
taken from some people and handed out to others. The welfare system
includes any government assistance program where people’s eligibility is
determined by their financial need.
In recent years, policy-makers of the welfare program have come to
believe that certain changes should be made to our welfare policy.
