The Influence Of Black Slave Culture On Early America
<view this essay>.... and drum beats. Along those lines, an early type of
slave music was the spiritual, which has its roots in Protestant hymns taught to
the slaves. Spirituals were "long thought to be the spontaneous creation of
African-American slaves and the only original folk music of the U.S."
Spirituals told tales of suffering and struggle, but these true meanings were
often hidden. An example is in the song "Gospel Train" with the lyrics, "Get on
board, little children/There's room for many a-more/The gospel train's a-leavin'

Friendship
<view this essay>.... category I feel my s are forever.
How far would I go to stop a friend from harming my country? Well, that depends on your definition of harm. If harm means to kill or terrorize the people of my country I would not hesitate to intervene. Since I don’t believe in lethal force I would turn my friend into the FBI and let them do the dirty work. Now on the other hand, if harm means to upset the stability of my country through peaceful means I would not intervene in the least bit. Even if I don’t believe in his intents. I believe every man has the right to "harm" his country peacefully. That is what democracy is based on a country for the people and by t .....

Attack On The Tobacco Companies

Unbelievably, they have ignored the issues of smoking for years. Long ago, no one worried about the hazards of smoking like we do today. The cigarette boxes did not always have the health warning on them that they do today. Smoking has been a part of history and is dated back to the Indians. It was not until recently that smokers were aware or were concerned about the risks of smoking.
Consequently, people began taking action toward the cigarette companies and the risks of smoking. The cigarette companies began printing the Surgeon General’s warnings on the packages. An action the people hav .....

The Treatment Of A Women In Sports
<view this essay>.... sports? In early 20th century the idea of women engaging in an aggressive or even a “perspiring” sport was unthinkable. Throughout history women have been creating stepping stones to achieve parity in exposure in compensation that is provided in today’s male sports world. With the 1996 induction of the WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) a substantial leap was overcome, and the precedence of women in sports was changed not only for the 90’s but forever. Only with the help of Title IX legislation and the persistence of women athletes to demand equality was such an accomplishment to be achieved. Although, women are making strives towards equa .....

religion and the need for liberation.
The liberation of the black man is needed! Molefi Asante describes "the
Afrocentric awareness [as] the total commitment to African liberation anywhere
any everywhere by a consistent determined effort to repair any psychic, economic,
physical, or cultural damage done to Africans"(50). Liberation from what...the
white race? Molefi's statement is completely ludicrous; the first copy of his
book with this statement was printed in 1988, in my opinion blacks were fairly
liberated in 1988. Now the second part of his statement, repair what damage?
Any psychic damage which has be .....

Gangs
<view this essay>.... heard about and are friends with, mainly consist of
colored-folk. In my gang for instance, we have five Caucasians, the rest
of us are either black, latino, or dark like me. However, we do not have
any asians in our gang. And no, we are not racist towards hispanics.
There's a gang that is called The Satanic Cult, which is into some
pretty weird rituals. They consisted of animal and human sacrifices and
people with brown hair were forbidden and non-caucasians.
There are many different gangs. Now there's one I am familiar
with, the Necronomicon, who jumped me and my homeboy (who's Latino) just
because we weren't white.
Another one w .....

RogersÆ opinion (see above quotation) on Communism is true, that is,
whether communism was truly doomed to fail from the start, or whether its
collapse was a result of external influences.
Communism is based on the ideas and teachings of Karl Marx as modified by
Lenin. At its most basic, the ideal of communism is a system in which
everyone is seen as equal and wealth is distributed equally among the
people. There is no private ownership. The state owns and controls all
enterprises and property. The state is run by one leading elite. The
Soviet model of communism was based on these ideals. All oppos .....
