Sexual Harassment
<view this essay>.... Success, page 74)
Before 1972, there was no penalty for sexual harassment of women at the
workplace. Not until, that is, the Education Amendments of 1972 were enacted.
Title IX of the Education Amendments states that "sexual harassment is a form of
sexual discrimination and is illegal." (What is Sexual Harassment?, page 20)
After the Education Amendments were enacted, women began to see that the law was
on their side and that it was designed to protect them. Women now saw that

-Subtle pressure for sex
-Unnecessary patting or pinching

Loving In Truth: Creating A Society Of Living In Harmony In The 21st Century
<view this essay>.... into adulthood unprepared to parent, unprepared to be productively
employed and unprepared to share in the mainstream aspirations.
Various programs are springing up to help children. However, like the
welfare program, for the most part these programs are aimed at alleviating
symptoms rather than correcting the cause of the problems. More prisons, more
policemen, gun control, the FBI, and V-chips to block violent programs on TV
will never stop crime and violence. When we devote time, money and effort toward
problems and symptoms -- without correcting the cause -- the problems and
symptoms grow and spread like creeping crab grass.
But as an individual, .....

Human Rights And Trade In China
<view this essay>.... the United States aggressively forces its views regarding human rights and trade onto the leaders of China.
It is true, of course, that China has self-initiative to improve human rights; one example is the pro-democracy demonstrators in the now infamous Tienanmen Square in Beijing. But, with a more aggressive standpoint on human rights, the U.S. can prevent disasters like the massacre of the hundreds of innocuous demonstrators in that square. On June 4th, 1989, unsuspecting people gathered in Tienanmen Square, unaware of the machination the government had devised to cruelly murder them. Government soldiers then proceeded to kill them in cold blood. The i .....

The Subject Of Equality And Justification Of Social Hierarchy
<view this essay>.... 1700s to early 1800s. Before the Civil War, both black and white abolitionists used the Declaration of Independence as justification that slavery was wrong. The delegates of the women’s rights convention at Seneca Falls in 1848 interpreted that Jefferson applied that “all men and women are created equal.” The subject of equality has been under debate since the settling of the colonies and continues today. How can this country be a superior world power but still try to live by the belief that “all men are created equal.”
Although some people truly felt that this nation must have a social hierarchy in order to stay competitive with foreign powers, in the nin .....

Welfare
<view this essay>.... change and improve the welfare system. The Clinton Administration
campaigned to "end welfare as we know it." The Administration's proposal limits
AFDC benefits to two years, during which employment services would be provided
to recipients. Nearly 20 welfare reform bills have been introduced in the 103rd
Congress. Besides the above mentioned bill, three major proposals were offered
by Republican members: The GOP Leadership Welfare bill, The Real Welfare Reform
Act, and The Welfare and Teenage Pregnancy Reduction Act. Now the Republicans
have pulled together a strong and controversial bill on welfare reform. The
Personal Responsibility Act is an attempt to .....

The Role Of Entertainers As Educators
<view this essay>.... one source to another. Religious disciplines were the first information passed from person to person through entertainment. In the third century B.C., Buddhist monks tried to win converts outside India through the use of theater and song (Burdick 97). They taught the precepts of Siddhartha and Buddha in such theatrical epics as Ramayana and Mahabharata, setting exacting rules for theater performance in the process (Burdick 99). Similarly, Irish monks established singing schools, which taught uniform use of music throughout the church (Young "'). Through chants which were all the same, they spread identical teachings. Christian psalms and hymns in Apostolic t .....

No, we are far more affluent as a society now. Did they have more space in their
homes, so they could take in another person and we cannot? No, on the average
our houses are far larger. Did they have less of a drug and alcohol problem?
Probably not. They did have fewer single-parenting situations - there was less
illegitimacy and divorce then - but life expectancy was lower, so there were
lots of orphans and half-orphans. We're more spread out now, but our travel time
is not any greater.

A Jew In Germany Or Occupied Europe:
<view this essay>.... on the business which I started nearly eight years ago in 1927.
AUGUST 1936:
Today I received a letter from my sister Erika, who lives in Germany.
She too followed the family tradition and set up her own shop in Germany with
her husband, but in this letter she seems to be very distressed and worried. She
says that life has started to become very difficult since 1933. There has been a
new ruling body installed in Germany called NAZI and according to her newspapers
it is led by a hero, who has come to save Germany; Adolf Hitler. These Nazis
oppose our jewish religion greatly; nearly everybody does, but this is a new
strain of hatred that I have no seen befor .....
