Celiac Sprue Disease
<view this essay>.... steatorrhea, is a disease whose extensive and variable symptoms challenge physicians to make a correct diagnosis in a timely fashion. The term "celiac sprue" has been applied to a clinical syndrome characterized by signs and symptoms of malabsorption, such as diarrhea and weight loss caused by eating grains. The term "gluten-sensitive enteropathy" more correctly defines the clinical pathologic disease caused by an immune-mediated sensitivity to gluten, a protein found in many cereal grains, principally wheat, barley, rye, and to a lesser degree oats. Most nutritionists agree that gluten is not present in rice, white or sweet potatoes, and corn.

Plastic Not Paper
<view this essay>.... for the environment. That's why plastic bags are
the best choice at the check out line. Of course your wondering how plastic bags
save money, well just think 2,000 paper bags stacked on each other reaches a
height of about 7.25 inches, while paper reaches a soaring height of 7.5 feet.
This means it takes seven trucks to deliver the same amount of paper as one
plastic delivering truck. Talk about a big waste of gas. Plastic bags cost
about ¼ of a cent to make, while paper cost close to 3 cents. This is money we
save as well as the store owner. This is a lot of money that is going to

WHO ARE AT RISK OF GETTING AIDS?
Over 500 Singaporeans have been tested positive for HIV (up to late- 1996), however, this is probably only the tip of the iceberg as there are many others who are infected but do not know that they are. In the 1980s, the majority of infections in Singapore were homosexual or bisexual men; but now there are many infections seen among heterosexual men and women. Heterosexual sex is now the main method of transmission in Singapore and over 75% of infections throughout the world are acquired through heterosexual inte .....

Nuclear Power
<view this essay>.... of plants and
animals that died millions of years ago. Burning fossil fuels has other
downfalls, too. All the burning that is required to turn the turbines
releases much sulfur, nitrogen gases, and other pollutants into the
atmosphere.
The cleanest, cheapest, and least polluting power plant of the two types
is the hydroelectric power plant. The main reason most countries use
thermal versus the hydroelectric is because their countries don’t have
enough concentrated water to create enough energy to generate
electricity. (World Book vol. 14, 586)
Nuclear power plants generate only about eleven percent of the world’s

Melissa Virus
<view this essay>.... reads the user's e-mail address book and sends an infected message to the first 50 entries. Although the virus apparently causes no permanent damage to a computer, its clogging affects were far-reaching. All new Microsoft Word documents created on an infected computer will contain the virus, too. Our own computer lab has posted a warning stating if a you receive a mail docoument the says, "Here is that document you asked for ... don't show it to anyone else" with a winking smiley face formed by the punctuation marks ;-) that you don't open it and to delete it right away. A copy cat virus named, "Papa,'' appeared Monday afternoon. It attaches a Microsoft .....
