Clinical Depression 2
<view this essay>.... of depression, 25% of women and 10% of men will have one or more episodes of clinical depression during their lifetimes.
The biologic basis of Clinical Depression originates in the brain. Your brain is made up of a complex network of nerve cells, called neurons and of brain chemicals, called neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters transmit messages from one neuron to another. Two of these neurotransmitters are not produced in sufficient quantities in a depressed person’s brain. Because of this lack, too few messages get transmitted between neurons and the symptoms of depression occur. In Clinical depression the chemicals in the brain are out-of-balance. New techn .....

Alzheimer’s Disease
<view this essay>.... number of differences were present when comparing the normal brain to the Alzheimer's brain. There was a loss of nerve cells from the Cerebral Cortex in the Alzheimer's victim. Approximately ten percent of the neurons in this region were lost. But a ten percent loss is relatively minor, and cannot account for the severe impairment suffered by Alzheimer's victims. Neurofibrillary Tangles are also found in the brains of Alzheimer's victims. They are found within the cell bodies of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex, and take on the structure of a paired helix. Other diseases that have "paired helixes" include Parkinson's disease, Down's syndrome, and Dementia Pu .....

Nuclear Weapons
<view this essay>.... of a fraction of a
kiloton of TNT. Only two nuclear weapons have been used in warfare, each
an atomic bomb dropped on Japanese targets by the United States in World
War II. After the war, production of such weapons and the development of a
more destructive bomb, the hydrogen bomb, caused worldwide concern.
The atomic bomb was a bomb with great explosive force from the
sudden release of nuclear energy through the fission, or splitting, of
heavy atomic nuclei. The first atomic bomb was tested by the United States
near Alamogordo, New Mexico. In the final stages of World War II, the U.S.
dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and on Nagasaki three days la .....

Toronto. The name seemed appropriate at the time. The name was changed to Frank
J. Horgan Filtration Plant at 1990 by the commissioner of works for Metro

major contractors worked on this plant and were supervised by the Engineering

Asteroid Defense
<view this essay>.... Earth. One of
the most important parts of defending our planet would be to find and chart
every asteroid that could threaten us. That would be a very tedious and never
ending job, but is necessary for the defense system to work. It would do us
humans no good to have some sort of defense against asteroids if we don’t know
when they will strike.
So after thinking about an anti-asteroid defense system, I think that
our government should look into constructing one. When one thinks about what an
asteroid could do to our planet it is usually a very scary thought. In the past
we have been very lucky with where asteroids have hit our earth. Back in 1908
in the T .....

DNA
<view this essay>.... like bacteria, or in several
chromosomes like most other living things. (Heath, 110) DNA can also be found
outside of chromosomes. It can be found in cell organelles such as plasmids in
bacteria, also in chloroplasts in plants, and mitochondria in plants and animals.
All DNA molecules contain a set of linked units called nucleotides. Each
nucleotide is composed of three things. The first is a sugar called deoxyribose.
Attached to one end of the sugar is a phosphate group, and at the other is one
of several nitrogenous bases. DNA contains four nitrogenous bases. The first two,
adenine and guanine, are double-ringed purine compounds. The others, cytosine
