<view this essay>.... the Christian Church have very similar beliefs but for some reason these groups did not get along in Europe. Even more trouble was caused when a member of a Church questioned a belief or theory. Religion was and still is so strong in many parts of the country that many battles have been fought on the account of different theories and view points from one belief to the next. Land and lives taken only for the sake of disagreements between churches. The settlers exploring the New World were trying to leave all of the chaos of these churches. Not that they did not want to be religious but they wanted a choice.

Contradictions In The Puritan Religion

Evidently, the Puritan beliefs were almost entirely contradictory.
Some of the Puritan beliefs were both simple and believable. Others
would seem outrageous today. Puritanism was founded on the principles and
beliefs of John Calvin, and one of the major ideals they focused on was the
doctrine of predestination. Calvin believed that the grace of God was the
ticket into Heaven and that his grace could not be earned. God's grace was
bestowed upon a select few regardless of what they did to earn it. This ‘
doctrine' stated that God determines a mans' destiny, whether it be redemption
