The History Of The Catholic Church In St. Augustine
<view this essay>.... will include various photos I have taken of monuments, churches, and other important Catholic sites in St. Augustine. Also, there is a timeline that follows the development of Catholicism in St. Augustine.
The history of St. Augustine is a long and intricate past. It is full of take overs, battles, and religious triumph and competition. The first explorer to reach Florida was Christopher Columbus. It is said that Columbus left San Salvador, the first island he landed on, and came to Florida, on a short voyage being the first explorers to find Florida. While Columbus was here, he was impressed by the Aboriaines, or the natives, and by the rich waters that .....

It has been said that Sunday morning is the most segregated morning of the week, as whites go to their churches and likewise, blacks and Hispanics congregate to their own services. It is often the members of the church who have the most objection interracial marriages. They say to me "love all races, just don't marry outside of your own." Rabbis
<view this essay>.... good
reason.
The authority of the Rabbis to dictate law is reflected in the
story of Moses in Akiba's classroom. First we must note that God is
distinctly "tying wreaths to the letters" of the Torah, so that Akiba can
decipher their meaning later. Moses the writer of the document is then
taken to Akiba's classroom and shown the sophistication that the Rabbis
have when they interperit the Bible. Moses is put in the back of the class
witht the new students as a symbol that he is not the master of the Bible.
Moses was the writer. He had no say in what it meant or contained. Rather
he was the first to interpret the words of God and write them. The fa .....

Burial Rituals In Judaism
<view this essay>.... cannot be violated to save a life. Judaism not only permits, but
often requires a person to violate the commandments if necessary to save a
life. A person who is extremely ill, fore example, or a woman in labor, is
not permitted to fast on Yom Kippur, because fasting at such a time would
endanger the person's life.
Doctors are permitted to answer emergency calls on the Sabbath, even
though this may violate the day's whole meaning. Abortions, when necessary
to save the mother, are mandatory. In Jewish law, the unborn are not yet
considered human, thus the mother's life is far more important.
Because life is so valuable, we are not permitted to d .....

Religion Support And Education
<view this essay>.... up to believe a certain religion, but to choose
your own, no matter what it is.
The past beliefs on religious support and education are displayed in the
words of Aristotle;
"Moral virtues come from habit... The habits we form from childhood make
no small difference, but rather they make all the difference." 1 Our society has
decided that the habits referred to by Aristotle, do not matter, when involving
religion. Statistics tend to show a different result than what our present
society feels. This paper is dealing with several different valid sources,
which mesh together to make a collective statement. This statement is that the
lack of religious support i .....

The Importance Of Having Several Different Translations Of The Bible
<view this essay>.... to understand. Having one translation of the Bible would not
make sense , but, several different versions make the Bible able to be
read by almost everyone. If there were not as many translations of this
holy book, the spread of Christianity would not be as great as it now is.
Many interpretations make the Bible easier to understand by using
the everyday language most people use. The Living Bible takes the
confusing phrases that would normally take two or three times to read and
sums them up in simple language. Most people don't have enough time as it
is. Why waste it trying to understand a few sentences?
The spread of Christi .....

bring his father back a triptych. Francis and his father have different views of
life. Francis believes in freedom, believes that a person does not have to be
rich to be prosperous, and he would rather be poor like Jesus then be rich,
which Jesus was not. He thinks that the rich are misrepresenting Jesus because
the rich are placing the poor behind themselves. Francis thinks that Jesus
represents the poor as well as the rich… "all men are created equal".
Francis can't help but to feel scared of lepers in the beginning. After all,
