Dramatic Irony In Romeo And Juliet
<view this essay>.... they have been noticed by Tybalt and Lord Capulet, but Lord Capulet tells Tybalt to let them be. This is ironic because the audience knows that the maskers, Romeo and his friends, have been noticed, but they do not. Tybalt letting them be, as told by Capulet, lets the two lovers fall in love instantly, which later leads up to the death of the lovers because there would have never been a catastrophe, if the lovers never met.
Like in the first example, the dramatic irony in Act II, scene ii also involves the two lovers. While standing outside of Juliet’s window, without her knowing, Romeo overhears her. He overhears her say, “O Romeo, Romeo wherefore art thou R .....

The Fate Of King Oedipus
<view this essay>.... of the
ancient Greek Gods, for example, Apollo, Zeus, Dionysis, and Artemis are
discussed quite often. In ancient Greece the people believed that if
anything happened one of the god's had a reason for it. Each god was
related to one specific thing like Poseidon being the god of the sea. They
thought that if there was a tidal wave or a hurricane it was because
Poseidon was angry at them. This is the basis for my assumption that
Oedipus had no control over his fate.
First of all, when Oedipus is just a baby his father, King Laius of
Thebes, is told in an oracle that his own son will kill him. So, with the
agreement of his wife, Jocasta, the baby's feet ar .....

Religion Is The Opiate Of The Masses
<view this essay>.... for any good today,
for example, do you really think that full house is an intellectual stimulus?
hell no. TV is designed to be brain candy for the weak-minded and ignorant.
The internet is more useful and I might add, stimulating. This is a medium in
which you can interact and communicate with others instead of sitting on your
ass drooling watching itchy and scratchy. There are honestly interesting sites
available on this medium.
I have heard people call television the "one-eyed monster", this simply
suggests to me that this person is obviously poor-bred or simply ignorant.
Television can be used to convey pornography, religion, drug use, love, or an .....

Cubism
<view this essay>.... Paris. One of them, Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), a young Spaniard who had moved to France had been a deliberate act of encouraging the latest developments of French paintings. Hamlet: Claudius' Conscience
<view this essay>.... Gertrude. Claudius also gains a new son, his former nephew Hamlet, the son of King Hamlet. Young Hamlet is very displeased with his mother's hasty marriage of Claudius and is angered by this incest. Hamlet has a deep attraction for his mother which goes beyond the traditional, mother-son relationship. At this point in the play, Hamlet does not know that Claudius has murdered his father, but he dislikes him anyway. Claudius is not a bad king, which is demonstrated by his handling of the situation between Young Fortinbras and Denmark, but he is not extremely popular with the people and has brought back the obnoxious custom of firing the cannons .....

Macbeth: Imagery
<view this essay>.... all people it foreshadowed that there would be more murders.
The first killing by showed how Macbeth could be a ruthless savage. It was a noble killing but the way Macbeth killed Macdonwald was a savage display of sickness.
"Till he unseam'd him from the nave to the chaps,
And fix'd his head upon our battlements" (Act 1, Scene 2:line22, 23)
Macbeth was not a bad man at first he was a very noble ally to Duncan. When Macbeth he saw the Three Witches everything changed. They told him things he wanted to here and he believed them. He told Lady Macbeth what the witches said. She taught him and ridiculed him to be evil. He listened to her and that is when the trou .....

Powder
<view this essay>.... memory and off the scale IQ.The writer expects the audience to view what
Powder says with more credibility because he has the use of more of his brain
than they do. This is a very powerful way for the writer to communicate theme,
by developing a philosophy in an attempt to affect the audience, and having
powder embody that philosophy so that people will see him as some sort of role
model. In general, this idea could work, but the writer of this particular film
obviuosly missed the boat here.
Instead of the independence imbodied in most people, Powder belives in a
unification of all humans, every single one, through some sort of single-
consciousness .....

Saint Joan's Tragic Flaw: The Epilogue
<view this essay>.... the events of the play without enhancing the drama. and
serves to add historical facts which are either familiar to the audience or
which could have been inserted skillfully into the body of the play with
greater dramatic effect. It seems almost as if Shaw was afraid that his
audience would not understand the play and he felt compelled to make his
ideas clearer in the epilogue.
The action of the epilogue takes place 25 years after Joan has been
burned. King Charles has a dream in which many of the characters of the
play appear. These characters, including Joan, either explain their
behavior that we've seen throughout the play or relate some historic .....
