Talk Shows And Their Effects On The Audience
<view this essay>.... Show and its involvement with The Cattlemen v. Oprah Winfrey. Both lawsuits involved opinions or statements voiced on the talk show that profoundly affected many lives. In the following paragraphs, I will list the specifics of the two cases, the outcomes of the two cases, their effects on audiences and talk shows today, and their relevance to mass media law.
The first case arose from a taping of The Jenny Jones show on March 6, 1995. Jonathan Schmitz, 26, agreed to appear on a secret admirers segment of The Jenny Jones talk show expecting his admirer to be a woman, not his gay neighbor. When Schmitz found Scott Amedure, a 32-year-old unemployed gay man, t .....

A Midsummer Night's Dream: Women In Elizabethian England

sterility either emotional, sexual, or absolute, respectively. These don't
really sound like choices to me, nor do they sound like choices to Hermia.
Woman, especially daughters, were to do what men commanded.
Another example of how woman were seen as second class citizens is how
they were supposed to treat men. Theseus proclaims to Hermia that she should
see her father as a God for he alone is responsible for her being. No mention
is made of Hermia's mother. It seemed to be the view at this time that men were
wholly responsible for the creation of children and woman were just a vessel for
the birthing. Which is curious bec .....

The Witches Are Responsible For What Happens To Macbeth
<view this essay>.... I believe that before hearing the witch's prophecies, Macbeth had never in his wildest dreams thought of killing King Duncan to become king himself.
In Act 4, Scene 1, Macbeth meets again with the witches, who tell him through apparitions, "Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff. Beware the thane of Fife." In the following scene, we see murderers sent by Macbeth enter Macduff's castle and slaughter both Lady Macduff and her son. The witches are also responsible for this murder, because once again, the witches put ideas in his head.
Although the witches can be held responsible for the murder of King Duncan, Lady Macduff and her son, they cannot be held resp .....

The Crucible: Reverend John Hale - A Dynamic Character
<view this essay>.... can bless them and rid them of the devil. An example of this is when he
said to Betty, “In nomine Domini Sabaoth sui filiique ite ad infernos,” which
means: In the name of the lord of hosts and his son get thee to the lower world.
This shows reverend Hales views on witchery. Another example of Hale's
character and his savings of witches is when he said, “Now Tituba, I know that
when we bind ourselves to Hell it is very hard to break with it. We are going
to help you tear yourself free-”
The point when Reverend Hale begins to change is in Act III during the
trial of John Proctor. “I am a minister of the lord, and I dare not take a life
without there be a p .....

Aristotle’s Theory Of Tragedy As Seen In Euripides’ Electra
<view this essay>.... of pity and fear within the audience. This leads to a cleansing catharsis, leaving the audience emotionally refreshed. In Electra, Euripides tells the story of two noble children who wish to avenge their murdered father and in doing so cause their own exile. Orestes and Electra’s hamartia of matricide lead them to discover their action was wrong and they come to regret what they have done. However, Electra lacks a true fall from happiness into misery for either children, a profound sense of tragic suffering, and a strong catharsis of pity and fear.
In Electra, both Orestes and Electra can be viewed as tragic figures, however Orestes is the better choice .....

then tell Oedipus that they know he is a great king and they turn to him to
find a remedy. Oedipus saved the city once before from the Sphinx by
solving the riddle and destroying her. Now faced with this new problem he
has no choice but to solve the problem and save the city once again.
Oedipus then sends his brother Creon to get whatever information he
can. Creon leaves the city and then comes back with some information. He
tells Oedipus that the gods command them to expel from the land of Thebes
an old defilement that it seems they shelter. The gods tell them to take
revenge upon whoever killed there past k .....

Questionable Heros In The Play Julius Caesar
<view this essay>.... question of his heroism comes when his
previous actions are looked upon. He has just returned from killing Pompey and
Pompey's sons. He did this to gain complete control of Rome instead of sticking
with the triumvirate that had currently ruled. He was ambitious, or so it was
said, and he wanted only power. This alone shows that his motives were not as
pure as was first thought.
The next person to be looked upon in Mark Antony, apparently Julius
Caesar's right-hand man. He plays the part of the hero as he takes Caesar's
side after death and rallies the people against the conspirators. As he speaks
to Octavius, though, he shows that he is mainly after t .....
