Antigone: Changing Views Of The Chorus
<view this essay>.... Thebes and Argos. Their last lines of this
opening choral passage, however, introduced king Creon, making him seem quite
noble yet mysterious to his loyal subjects. They state such questions as: “
what new plan will he launch?” and “Why this sudden call to the old men
summoned at one command?” (Lines 175-178) These lines are utilized by
Sophocles as a suspenseful introduction to Creon's orders concerning the body
of Polynices.
The chorus's next appearance blatantly shows their biased attitudes
against Antigone and her exiled father Oedipus. At this point they still sing
praise for King Creon and his unwavering decisions concerning the law which was
placed .....

The People Vs Larry Flynt
<view this essay>.... and shameful manner. Keating also voiced that Hustler depicts women in a shameful manner by photographing them with other women and even with Santa Claus. Keating was basically trying to censor Hustler magazine because in his opinion it was too raunchy and in poor taste unlike Playboy or other adult publications. The difference between Flynt's publication and Playboy is that Hustler is more explicitly raw and the pictures aren't touched up.
This is a very controversial issue because it goes against the first amendment. Who is to say that someone doesn’t have the right to view certain materials. Americans don’t want someone else controlling what they can se .....

Elements Of Masque In The Tempest
<view this essay>.... elaborate special effects to convey a sense of realism. The banquet scene in Act III scene iii requires a "quaint device" to make it vanish, and also makes extensive use of costume, dance and music, as the spirits enter in the form of shapeless creatures and Ariel is the form of a harpy. The masque within the play in Act IV requires elaborate costumes for the goddesses and, ideally, machinery for Juno to descend as deus ex machina with. It also involves great amounts of song and dance. The entire play makes extensive use of music, with Ariel's songs and Prospero's charms as well as the "sweet airs" of the island itself. Being non-human, Caliban, Ariel and the .....

Hamlet: Is He Insane?
<view this essay>.... An example of this is in Act III, section III, line 73,
Hamlet says “Now might I do it pat, now 'a is a-praying, and now I'll do it-and
so ‘a goes to heaven, and so am I revenged that would be scanned. A villain
kills my father, and for that, I, his sole son, do this same villain send to
heaven. Why, this is hire and salary, not revenge.” He says here that he has
his chance to kill his father's murder but, he is praying. By killing him while
he's praying his soul goes to heaven and this wouldn't be revenge. This is not
a thought of an insane person. An insane person would have completed the murder
at this opportunity. In Act III, scene I, line 55, “To be .....

A Futuristic Interview With Romeo

someone ‘behind the times.' So sit back, relax, and watch as the past becomes
the present.
(Lights dim, machine hums, beam of light appears center stage. Through the beam,
people are visible, walking seemingly unaware of the new presence.)
ANN: The place is Verona, Italy, and the year is 1523. To be precise, the third
of May.
(Romeo cautiously peers into light beam. It seems he is the only one aware of
it.)
ANN: (To Romeo) Do not be afraid, come forward. (Beckons with hand)
ROMEO: What is this?
ANN: Sir, I apologize for this sudden interruption of your day. Perhaps you
would like me to explain?
ROMEO: (Steps onto stage out of light .....

Macbeth: Plots For Murder
<view this essay>.... is actually Macbeth.
Though Macbeth has two murderers ready to kill Banquo and Fleance, I think he wants to make sure the job gets done. It is somewhat obvious that Macbeth is planning something when he says to the people "To make society / The sweeter welcome, we will keep ourself / Till suppertime alone" (41). Macbeth is worried about the witches prophesy that Banquo will be the father of a line of kings. He sees this meaning one of two things, either the fate of himself, or the fate of his line of children. Therefore, he wants to get Banquo and Fleance out of the way. His being the third murderer, in his mind, will help guarantee that the murder is comp .....

The Downfall Of Macbeth
<view this essay>.... forces had no direct control over his actions but
simply pointed out different paths for him to follow. Ultimately, Macbeth chose
the path of darkness.
Throughout the entire play Macbeth ignores the voice of his own
conscience. He knows what he is doing is wrong even before he murders Duncan.
His own conscience is nagging at him but he allows Lady Macbeth and greed to
cloud his judgement. In referring to the idea of the murder of Duncan, Macbeth
first states,"We will proceed no further in this business"(I, vii, 32). Yet,
after speaking with Lady Macbeth he recants and proclaims, "I am settled, and
bend up /Each corporal agent to this terrible feat"(I, vii, 7 .....

Art

created- the social and historical conditions of the time and the philosophical
views which affected the way in which the artist viewed the world. (Russell,
1984)
Art is as varied as the life from which it springs and each artist
portrays different aspects of the world they know. Briefly, it may be said that
artists paint to discover truth and to create order. The creators of art make
discoveries about the wonders and beauty of nature and the dignity and nobility
of man. They give these concepts an order to help us understand life in a
greater depth. In understanding the history and style of any period of art, we
