The Social Plague Of Crime And Criminals
<view this essay>.... ineffective?
The result is an unchanged criminal, and a society who bears the burden of
deviant acts.
To explore the roots of this problem we can analyze the conditions
under which they are incarcerated. States vary in the procedures on
treatment of inmates. The topic to be debated on the basis of its
effectiveness is the rights of prisoners concerning conjugal visits. On an
issue so sensitive and controversial there are many different arguments and
opinions feel the most basic way to divide the way society feels about
conjugal visits is in three subsets which stem from legal theories. The
first is the justice view. The second is the rehabilitative view. The .....

Capital Punishment: Costs Of The Death Penalty
<view this essay>.... for such an obscurity of fairness and
logic. The death penalty is frivolous and discriminatory in its procedure
because of the unreasonable prices we pay to execute certain groups at much
higher rates than others.
We pay different prices for using a death penalty. Sadly, today more than
ever, the dollar seems to be the endlessly interchangeable standard of value.
We strive to make money, save money and when we spend money we do so with a
valued return in mind. Accordingly, a popular argument contends that we spend
too much money incarcerating prisoners for life. We probably do but the price
tag on issuing a death sentence according to a Florida s .....

Capital Punishment
<view this essay>.... has been imposed throughout history for many crimes, ranging from blasphemy and treason to petty theft and murder. Many ancient societies accepted the idea that certain crimes deserved . Ancient Roman and Mosaic law endorsed the notion of retaliation; they believed in the rule of "an eye for an eye." Similarly, the ancient Egyptians, Assyrians, and Greeks all executed citizens for a variety of crimes. The most famous people to be executed are Socrates and Jesus. Only in England, during the reigns of King Canute (1016-1035) and William the Conqueror (1066-1087) was the death penalty not used, although the results of interrogation and torture were often fat .....

Make US Citizenship More Difficult
<view this essay>.... was founded by settlers who were indeed immigrants, and then the move westward was again aided by the millions of immigrants constantly joining the new country. Native Americans alone could say that they oppose immigration, or could they? Did not their ancestors also migrate to the continent of North America? How then can men or women calling themselves United States citizens be opposed to immigration?
The most profound and obvious way that immigrants affect our country is through their culture. Has there ever been an American culture? If a culture does or did exist it is then a mixture of the many subcultures brought to the United States by immigrants. .....

The Death Penalty
<view this essay>.... Court invalidated hundreds of
scheduled executions, declaring that then existing state laws were applied in an
"arbitrary and capricious" manner and, thus, violated the Eighth Amendment's
prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment, and the Fourteenth Amendment's
guarantees of equal protection of the laws and due process. But in 1976, in _
Gregg v. Georgia_, the Court resuscitated the death penalty: It ruled that the
penalty "does not invariably violate the Constitution" if administered in a
manner designed to guard against arbitrariness and discrimination. Several
states promptly passed or reenacted capital punishment laws.
Thirty-seven states now .....

Methamphetamine: Built For Speed?
<view this essay>.... Therefore,
the human capacity to handle the velocity becomes a fragile balance.
Our generation (see Gen X, 20-somethings) could be considered the sleepless
generation. An age of society's children weaned on the ideals of high-speed
communication and accelerated culture has prided itself in mastering many of the
facets of human existence -- doing more, sleeping less. The machines of this age
have in a way enabled us to create a 24-hour lifestyle. We have pushed the
limits of the modern world further -- ATMs, high-speed modems, smart bombs and
bullet trains. However, the limitations of human existence, like sleep, may
still provide the stumbling block for infin .....

Finally, in 1979, two wells supplying drinking water to Woburn were

two main defendants were the W.R. Grace corporation, a chemical and
