In Cold Blood: Death Penalty
<view this essay>.... has never been
greater.
A prisoner's death wish cannot grant a right not otherwise possessed.
Abolitionists maintain that the state has no right to kill anyone; . The right
to reject life imprisonment and choose death should be respected, but it changes
nothing for those who oppose the death at the hands of the state.
The death penalty is irrational- a fact that should carry considerable
weight with rationalists. As Albert Camus pointed out, " Capital
punishment....has always been a religious punishment and is reconcilable with
humanism." In other words, society has long since left behind the archaic and
barbous" customs" from the cru .....

Gun Control In The U.S.
<view this essay>.... two-step process. The first step in the procedure is that the person wanting a gun goes to his local shop (or calls a reputable mail order outlet) to place the initial order. Then, he must wait one to two weeks while the government performs a small background check for past criminal activities, disorderly conduct, or lack of mental/emotional stability. During this time, if the purchaser of the gun wanted the gun for impulse reasons (out of rage), it is hoped that they will not still want to cause bodily harm after a couple weeks.
The problem with this method of gun control is that it stops the ordinary citizen from purchasing a gun on the whim, but i .....

My question to you: Is the price for being yourself in the world today worth paying?
In Amarillo, Texas, within a population of 160,000, teens struggle for ways to keep themselves occupied. As in most places, the people with similar interests are drawn to each other and different groups are formed. In every town or city, there will always be the popular .....

The Seat Belt Law
<view this essay>.... don’t remember too much from my young ages, but I know that I loved to ride in cars. It helps that my parents are both avid seatbelt wearers because drivers who do wear belts are three times more likely to buckle up their kids. Of course, I had to wear my seat belt and sit in the back seat. I did not always do what my parents asked, but I did tend to wear my seatbelt all the time. It became habit to jump in the car and buckle up. Without a seatbelt, I feel as though I am missing something and I feel completely naked without it.
In the past fifteen years, I have, unfortunately, been a passenger in approximately ten car accidents. A few of these were sign .....

How Decriminalisation Could Solve The Drugs Problem
<view this essay>.... often wondered what it really is about these innocuous chemical creations that has instilled such terror in governments around the world that in many countries a person can have their life coldly and legally taken away, simply for distributing them?
Is it because of their power to warp the human mind and run amok with the senses upon which we so desperately rely? No. Our world is inescapably full of narcotics, yet many of them, including powerful and dangerous ones such as alcohol and tobacco, are happily tolerated by society. The nutmeg in your kitchen cupboard can have narcotic effects if smoked (and, used in this way, it can also give you cancer), yet few .....

The College Scandal
<view this essay>.... would be some sit-out penalties required” (Price par. 1). Many college athletes receive gifts from their coaches, the booster club, and agents. College athletes should not receive extra gifts to play at a four-year university because the college and the players are given unwanted attention, all college athletes are stereotyped, and there is no longer an amateur level.
Collegiate athletics have gained an exceptional amount of attention because of many incidents involving college athletes accepting gifts from agents and coaches. These incidents happen because agents will do anything for money. They know that if their prospect makes it big, they will get a .....

Capital Punishment: Pro
<view this essay>.... of age, as stated in article by Kirk Makir, in the
March 26, 1987 edition of the Globe and Mail, titled "B.C. MPs split on Death
Penalty".
The death penalty deters murder by putting the fear of death into would be
killers. A person is less likely to do something, if he or she thinks that harm
will come to him. Another way the death penalty deters murder, is the fact that
if the killer is dead, he will not be able to kill again.
Most supporters of the death penalty feel that offenders should be punished for
their crimes, and that it does not matter whether it will deter the crime rate.
Supporters of the death penalty are in favour of making examples out of
