The Ethics Of Somatic Cell Cloning
<view this essay>.... from prior attempts to create identical offspring (since Dolly contained only the genetic material of only one parent, and was therefore, a "delayed" genetic twin of a single adult sheep).
Cloning, much like other technologies can be used for good or evil. It is society's responsibility to regulate cloning technology. At this point, society has failed to do so.
The Medical Benefits:
Somatic cell cloning has many potential benefits:
1. Somatic cell cloning provides a way for completely sterile individuals, (those not capable of reproducing) to reproduce.
2. Somatic cell cloning may provide valuable basic research and spin off technologies related to reprod .....

Assisted Suicide
<view this essay>.... state of clinical depression, perhaps caused by a traumatic event in their lives. These persons will recover and go on to lead productive, happy lives, and it would be unconscionable to encourage or support them in a transitory wish to die. There are also many unemployed and unemployable, many disabled of all ages, and many senior citizens whose families might, for selfish or downright malicious reasons, encourage them to seek . All kinds of people in difficult situations could be at risk of being intimidated or forced into feeling their early death would be a convenience to society. Section 241 is doubly flawed. It is not an especially effective drawback .....

Antibiotic Resistance
<view this essay>.... answer. The more times you use a drug, the
more it will decrease the effect it has on you. That is because the
bacteria has found a way to avoid the effects of that antibiotic. Another
cause of resistance is the improper use of drugs. When patients feel that
the symptoms of their disease have improved, they often stop taking the
drug. Just because the symptoms have disappeared it does not mean the
disease has gone away. Prescribed drugs should be taken until all the
medicine is gone so the disease is completely finished. If it is not, then
this will just give the bacteria some time to find a way to avoid the
effects of the drug.
One antibiotic that will alway .....

Abortion Report
<view this essay>.... murder. I happen to agree with this.
This is what I will be focusing on for the rest of my report.
I will first talk about Pro-Choice. Through the years this has
obviously been the thinking of our nation because abortion remains legal (Bill
Clinton is Pro-Choice). This is also the thinking of many woman's rights
movements and organizations. From reading a paper on Pro-Choice it states as
its heading that abortion should be a woman's right to choose what she does with
her body, and it should not be altered or influenced by anyone else. This right
is guaranteed by the ninth amendment, which contains the right to privacy. This
brings up a very inte .....

A Better Idea Of Attention Deficit Disorder
<view this essay>.... diagnose,
has many ways to be helped, and still allows children to lead fairly normal
lives with the proper help.
Attention Deficit Disorder is hard to diagnose because no one is
certain of what actually causes the disorder. Lawrence Weathers thinks that
the behavior of an ADD or ADHD child might occur because of stress due to
school, parents, or friends before the child is emotionally equipped to
handle the situation. He calls ADD a neurological disorder that affects the
motivational system (42, 20). Another theory of what causes ADD is the low
amount of glucose metabolism in the brain. ADD affects two important parts
of the brain that are connected with the .....

The Battle Against AIDS
<view this essay>.... In 1985, scientists in France identified another closely related
virus that also produces AIDS. This virus, named HIV-2, occurs mainly in
Africa. HIV-1 occurs throughout the world. HIV infects certain white
blood cells, including T-helper cells and macrophages, that play key roles
in the functioning of the immune system. The virus attaches to specific
molecules found only on the surface of the cells. These molecules are
called CD4 receptor molecules, and the cells themselves are often referred
to as CD4 cells. When an AIDS virus enters one of these cells, the virus
inserts its genes into the cell's reproductive system and uses it to
produce more HIV. Thi .....

Herbal Medicines
<view this essay>.... cure there seems to be a downslide. Controversy, also, has risen with the question of whether or not should actually replace conventional drugs.
One of the reasons people are looking to is that have been shown to have some good effects. have a tendency to be more gentle on the body and safer than conventional medicines. Herbs are usually "more dillute, slower acting and their side effects are usually less severe"(Flint np). Since herbs do tend to be more dillute, it decreases the risk of the more serious side effects that come along with the stonger drugs. Antibiotics, as a drug, may do more to the body than just get rid of the bacteria or virus. .....

Tuberculosis
<view this essay>.... from person-to- person.
A person is usually infected by inhaling the germs which have been sprayed into
the air by someone with the active disease who coughs.
However, inhaling the germ does not usually mean you will develop active disease.
A person's natural body defenses are usually able to control the infection so
that it does not cause disease. In this case, the person would be infected, but
not have active disease. Only about 10% of those infected will actually develop
TB in their lifetimes.
Active disease can occur in an infected person when the body's resistance is low
or if there is a large or prolonged exposure to the germs that overcome the
body .....
