Aspartame And Olestra: Will We Buy The Bull?
<view this essay>.... Are they really helpful? I will try to answer this question
the best I can.
Laboratories have created food substitutes to help three groups of people:
obese, diabetics and people suffering of heart disease. For these people,
eating is a tedious task, as they have to control the sugar and fat levels
of every food they ingest. It is why I think that food substitutes come to
them somehow like a miracle. Until now, diabetics, for example, were faced
with two choices: eat the fake foods that taste nothing like the real thing,
or pass. Sure, a man with a heart disease will not be able to eat a steak,
but maybe he will be allowed to eat the French .....

Anabolic Steroids
<view this essay>.... steroids can be taken in two ways, by injection or they can be
taken orally. Both oral and injected steroids carry benefits and adverse
effects. Orally taken steroids are well absorbed into the stomach and they are
excreted fairly rapidly. The bad side of taking oral steroids is that they are
more toxic than injected steroids. They are highly potent, which makes the risk
of overdosing very high. Steroids that are injected are less toxic to the liver
and are less potent than oral steroids on an equal dosage basis. Injected
steroids have a delayed take up, which makes them last longer. It also allows
them to be detected in drug tests for a longer period .....

Vegetarians
<view this essay>.... zinc, and
vitamins (B-12 and D). Without supplements, severe medical problems can arise.
Also, those supplements are usually man made and do not require some of
substances, still un-identified, in meat.
A carnivorous diet has always been in American history. Turkey is eaten on
Thanksgiving, not Tofu Surprise. Fish on Fridays, not salad. Pop and son would
go hunting in the winter for fresh game to eat, they wouldn’t go picking berries
and roots. Those who could not or would not eat meat did not survive.
Studies have been done by M. J. Lentze, a German who found that vegetarianism
causes impaired growth in children five years or younger. Vegan children .....

Ebola: A Contagious Trend
<view this essay>.... the virus before it spreads and harms millions of people. This is the scientists’ primary goal when faced with this disease.
The Ebola virus belongs to a group of “negative-stranded RNA viruses.” To date, there are five different recorded cases of the Ebola strand. Ebola Zaire, Sudan, Reston and Tai. Though all have been known to cause serious internal damage to all types of organs, whether it is human or animal, Ebola Reston does not seem pose a threat to humans in any way.
“Ebola viruses are spread though direct contact with a person who is very ill with the disease. Usually wide-spread action of the virus takes place among hospital care workers or f .....

Dreams
<view this essay>.... lie in on the
weekends when you wake up slowly and gradually change from the sub-conscious
mind to the conscious mind. This is called lucid dreaming. With this you can
take partial control of what happens during a dream. Since you can do this you
don't have to be restricted to do all the things you do in real life but you
could do whatever you like because it's your mind that's controlling you not
your body and gravity. For example, you could fly or walk through walls.
The powers of dreams
The dreaming world could be a very powerful thing so much so that it
causes a baby to be born because of lucid dreaming. In a true story taken from
the book called Livi .....

Suicide In Jails
<view this essay>.... tendencies. Suicide is the primary cause of
death in this country's jails. In 1986 there were 401 successful [jail] suicides
(Winkler 19992).
There are many general assumptions made in regard to suicide. Most believe
suicide to be caused by mental illness such as major depression or bipolar
disorder. Another belief is that the emotional escalation leading to action
takes place over a long period of time. Such is not the case in jail suicides.
Much of the research shows that "of all [jail] suicides occur within the first
twenty four hours of incarceration, and an overwhelming number of these take
place in the first three hours of isolation which is refer .....

Abortion
<view this essay>.... an
unborn child's life and if the mother is old enough to get pregnant they are old
enough to have the child. Some pro-life activists think that even if you have
to put the baby up for adoption later you should still have it. Although some
of the reasoning that pro-life activist use, might seem a little ridiculous at
times many of the activist aren't able to have children or are just trying to
defend a baby that can't defend it self. The pro's of pro-life are that the
baby gets a chance to live and experience life outside of the womb and maybe
someone who is unable to have children will get the chance to be a mother or
father if they adopt this child who wou .....
