Nora As A Doll
<view this essay>.... the dance, he proclaims "When I saw you dance the tarantella, like a huntress, a temptress, my blood grew hot, I couldn't stand it any longer"(1530), showing how he is more interested in Nora physically than emotionally. When Nora responds by saying "Leave me, Torvald! Get away form me! I don't want all this"(1530), Torvald asks "Aren't I your husband?"(1530). By saying this, he is implying that one of Nora's duties as his wife is to physically pleasure him at his command.
Torvald also does not trust Nora with money, which exemplifies Torvald's treating Nora as a child. On the rare occasion when Torvald gives Nora some money, he is concerned that she will w .....

The Internal Action Of Hamlet
<view this essay>.... Many times Hamlet comes out with a soliloquy that puts himself down. Hamlet has many troubles, because he has thought of committing suicide. It shows in the play that many things are bothering him, because of his erratic behaviour. Many times in this play, Hamlet portrays his struggle internally, that prevents him from acting on his tasks.
Hamlet is struggling inside of himself whether the ghost was a good spirit or evil one. Hamlet debates within himself whether or not to kill Claudius and seek revenge. Because of his uncertainty Hamlet had the players put on a play to catch Claudius’ reaction. Example of this is when Hamlet says
Hamlet:

but need to be official dictators in order to repress their followers.
This is evident in today’s world. Ignorance is strength; our
ignorance to repression increases the strength of our leaders,
allowing them to make proles of us all.
Repression is achieved through various techniques of
dictatorship, one being controlled participation. This provides the
proles with the “appearance” of a voice. In many communist
nations, people have been given the right to vote but the communist
party is the only choice on the ballot. In a democracy, such as that
which exists in Canada and the United States, there are .....

Frankenstein
<view this essay>.... had many differences and things in common with Adam, as well as Victor with God.
In the story of Adam and Eve, God was, and still is know a perfect and wise creator. He decided to develop human life and did so "with his own hands". Adam was a man who was put by God in the land of paradise without wisdom or contact with any other being. He was told by God to choose between right and wrong during his lifetime. God also gave Adam advice and hints, like, to not eat the apples from a certain tree because that would lead him to evil. Adam took this into consideration, but broke his promise and ate the apple. This is similar to Victor and the monster because, in the .....

Movie Narrative Structure

The director's ideas and images don't always build up to one central point, instead using smaller repetitious parallel relationships to allow the viewer to connect themes by building associational links. The silent film A Man With a Movie Camera (Dziga Vertov) is such an example of an associational documentary. This self-reflexive film using life in the Soviet Union is all about the power of filmmaking. This film becomes a celebration of the documentary filmmaker's power to control our perception of reality by means of editin .....

In a retold story form of the play, the statement is made ; “It seemed that Scotland’s fate, the people’s lives, his own, were cradled in the vast courage of this warrior’s breast” represents the picture painted of Macbeth early in the piece.
The fact that Macbeth was chosen as Thane of Cowdor is another representation of the confidence that the king and the people of the time had in Macbeth’s character. When King Duncan announced Macbeth’s rise to Thane, he referred to him as “noble Macb .....

English Is A Crazy Language...
<view this essay>.... 2 indices?
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend, that you comb through annals of history but not a single annal? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?
If teachers taught, why didn't preacher praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? If you wrote a letter, perhaps you bote your tongue?
Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? Park on driveway .....

The Dark Half
<view this essay>.... figure in the story, did not immediately believe Thad Beaumont, the main character of the novel (a writer in the story). Even after there was good evidence that a supernatural thing was happening to Thad, Pangborn did not believe him, because that is what a real person would do. They would be skeptical until they witnessed something themselves. Finally, he began to believe, but not until about three-quarters of the way through. Even then, he wasn't sure. Other similar things happened too. George Stark, the "villain" of the story, was Thad's penname come to life. Stephen King made that seem possible with his explanation that Thad had a brain tumor w .....
