He depends solely on others for his nourishment and well being. Oedipus was the child of Jocasta and King Laius who was taken to the mountain by a shepard to be killed so the omen of the god ap .....

This is one of numerous examples of his savage killings, which he delights in. He lives only to kill and destroy the lives of those who still live. He brings complete terror to those who meet him, and fear to all others. "Then he stopped, seeing the hall crowded with sleeping warriors, stuffed with rows of soldiers resting together. And his heart laughed, he relinquished the sight, intended to tear the life from those bodies" (Beowulf 23). Grendel does nothing but cause death and de .....

I, his sole son, do this same villain send
To heaven.

also used contrast in the personalities of the characters to convey
the message that Leibniz's philosophy should not be dealt with any
seriousness.

Pride And Prejudice - Pride
<view this essay>.... of view, ironically describing human behavior. She describes what she sees and adds her own comments to it in a very light and easy way. She never seems to be condescending or snubbing in her criticism but applies it in a playful manner. This playfulness, and her witty, ironic comments on society are probably the main reasons that make this novel still so enjoyable for readers today. Some rules and characteristics depicted in the story seem very peculiar and are hard to conceive by people of our generation. Nevertheless, the descriptions of the goings-on in that society are so lively and sparkling with irony that most people cannot help but like the novel. J .....

At the end of the book James Jarvis (even though he had changed) could not get off his horse to talk to Steven Kumalo. He could have easily gotten off but "such a thing is not lightly done" (307). Paton includes this part in the novel to show that the white man can be amicable with the natives, but they will always have to come out on top. The whites needed to feel like they were on a higher level than the natives. If this country ever wants to be as one the whites are going to have to give up there need for superiority. Many times in the novel Paton showed there was a problem without even sa .....
