Personal Writing: An-Yang
<view this essay>.... with us, while she lives in a separate
apartment by herself in Glendale. My family and I used to eat lunch at her
house every week. I remember trudging up the dank, squeaky stairs with my
siblings, yelling "An-yang!!"(grandmother) all the way. She would yell in
a similar fashion "Ah! Shua- nging!" (ah, children!) Smells of old-
fashioned Shanghainese cooking would assail my senses, as my mouth watered
in anticipation of the savories to come.
One particular afternoon, after we had finished eating, we draped ourselves
around her living room. I was sitting on a dilapidated couch, whose colors
were made indiscernible by time, and was looking around her ro .....

Personal Writing: My Grandmother
<view this essay>.... My grandmother's
doors were always open to everyone no matter what. When my grandmother had
company she would tell us very seriously to act nicely in front of them or
she would be very upset at us.
My grandmother always sat in the kitchen of her house. This is
where she would drink her hot black coffee with no sugar and smoke her
Virginia Slim cigarettes. She would sometimes sit in her kitchen for hours
upon end and watch the ducks and the geese swimming by on the river and if
it were warm enough outside she would crumble up some bread and feed it a
little at a time to them.
In the summer time my grandmother and whoever happened to be at the
house would sit .....

In front of us stood lennie, he was standing over the slouched curley's

the heck he did. He just stood there looking at us like we were some alien

hides whipped when curley finds out about this. A few minutes later when

Personal Writing: My Trip To Washington D.C And Arlington National Cemetery
<view this essay>.... down upon this huge burial sight, I thought about the squad rants of
soldiers who inevitably lost their lives. What questions did they have
about the war in which they were fighting? Was their country worth dying
for? These questions will forever remain unanswered; however, their tombs
will permanently remain to remind generation after generation that some
things are worth fighting for.
Upon arriving home from my trip to Washington D. C, I realized how
lucky I am to have the opportunity to live and study freely in the United
States. If it had not been for the many soldiers who fought to keep the
United States a free country, who knows what the worl .....

My Decision To Get A Degree
<view this essay>.... school.
In January of this year I finally decided to get my degree. Throughout the years, I thought about what careers would interest me. Computers played into my mind and I thought if I enjoyed working and learning about computers, it would not be considered work.
I have so much to learn and value the knowledge I have knowing it is going to stay with me throughout my life. My children age ten and four, will see the effort and hard work that is required to be an over achiever. I believe this will motivate them to succeed and maybe “compete with mom”. With the computer information technology, it brings even more opportunity to learn a whole new area of .....

The Power Of Obierika
<view this essay>.... Ezinma, whose health was quickly failing.
Obierika knew where his strength was. He may not have the bravery to be such a harbinger of bad news but he could at least avenge Okonkwo's tragic death. Images of the milky white Christians who had arrogantly invaded the village flashed before Obierika's eyes. It drove him into frenzy, running into trees and ripping the plants and his own hair.
" The Christians will die! They treat us like animals to be herded to wherever it best serves them, to die or to be converted into a life of death. The Christians will die, the Christians will die!"
Obierika screamed the manta over and over, aware of his inhuman .....

Creative Story: Bathtub
<view this essay>.... under his head and lay back all the way so the water filled
his ears. Now he heard the shower hitting the water in the tub from underwater.
Everything seemed a lot quieter now. Johnny felt tired and dizzy and glad to be
motionless, resting, quiet. Everything felt perfect. The water landing was still
a little warm, but the water filling the tub was the perfect temperature. Johnny
couldn't think how he could be happier -- maybe if he didn't have to go to work
in an hour, but right now that seemed a long way off.
Johnny closed his eyes and rested peacefully, slipping in and out of a half
dream of floating through warm liquid clouds.
Suddenly, Johnny felt very .....
