.... changed the face of warfare since it allows the world to see the harsh conditions. The extremely harsh conditions on the front of any war take a certain kind of person to deal with them. Men going into World War I did not know - could not know - what kind of effects the war would have on them. They were not prepared for the gruesome situation they would see and encounter. They did not realize that they would see "…coffins and corpses lie strewn about…" [Erich Maria Remarque, All Quiet on the Western Front (Ballantine Books, 1982), p. 71.] The war would change them permanently, and unfortunately, they did not realize this until they were actually faced wit .....

His success is partly due to a magic ring that he takes from a strange, dark creature named Gollum, who lives in the dank, dark caves below the Misty Mountains. .... power of self restraint.˙ While this seems to give Dimmesdale great strength, it is also his largest flaw. His body refuses to do what his heart says is right. Dimmesdale instructs Hester to reveal the truth, but when she refuses he doesn˙t have the willpower to confess himself. Therefore, his sin becomes even larger than hers, because while hers is an exposed sin. He continues to lie to himself and his followers by keeping his secret hidden, so his is a concealed sin. Here Hawthorne shows us just how strong Dimmesdale actually is, by allowing him to hide his sin and bear the weight of it, he creates an extremely interesting and tremendously strong char .....

When More is being pressured into signing the oath by Norfolk in the name of fellowship, he replies by saying, " And when we stand before God, and you are sent to Paradise for doing according to your conscience, and I am damned for not doing according to mine, will you come with me for fellowship?"(77). He adheres to his philosophy and conscience, knowing that he will inevitably be executed. One who is reading this may reply by thinking More's decision was asinine. The reader may believe that life is the greatest value to man, and to place anything above it would be asinine. More's behavior was bizarre .....

.... goal in the entire book, and that really states something about his character. In Book 5 we are first introduced to the character Odysseus. The strange thing is that he is weeping to himself when we first meet him. He is weeping because he pines for his family and home as stated in lines 327 and 328, “Yet it is true, each day I long for home, long for the sight of home.” As he plainly states, Odysseus greatly misses his home, and his tears show us just how much he misses it. Not only Hester, but the physical scarlet letter, a Puritanical sign of disownment, is shown through the author's tone and diction as a beautiful, gold and colorful piece. Pearl, Hester's child, is portrayed Puritanically, as a child of sin who should be treated as such, ugly, evil, and shamed. The reader more evidently notices that Hawthorne carefully, and sometimes not subtly at all, places Pearl above the rest. She wears colorful clothes, is extremely smart, pretty, and nice. More often than not, she shows her intelligence and free thought, a trait of the Romantics. One of Pearl's favorite activities is p .....

.... Desmond and the rest of Desmond's acting company. Peter joined Mr. Desmond's acting company after all. The Peter met this boy name Kit Kirkstone. Kit is a very bright and smart boy. But Peter didn't like him at all when they met each other. They still become friends in the company. In Chapter 8, Kit finally tells Peter that she is a girl, she ran away home from her gudience because her own very reason. They also met the man from Stratford, William Shakespeare. Shakespeare is a very understanding man, he is nice to Peter and Kit. They both join Shakespeare's acting company. Kit's play as a Juliet very well. Everybody in town is all talking about Kit's act.
