Prostitution
<view this essay>.... 20th century western society.
If sanctioned, prostitution will become economically lucrative for the
governments involved. The colossal amount of money spent each year on
prostitute prevention could be spent on more urgent issues, which is
exactly what the San Francisco Task Force on Prostitution found.
The total costs accounted for in this report amounts to $7,634,750.00.
Given the many areas in which we found that information is not available,
or there are hidden costs, the over all expense to the taxpayer exceeds
$7.6 million annually.1
The San Francisco Task Force is a group of researchers, police officers,
members of the San Francisco community, go .....

Treatment Of Women In Voltaire's Period
<view this essay>.... raped and used as sex objects.
The way the men treated the women in Voltaire’s period was so deplorable that women could not do anything that they wanted to do. Their level of education was poor. Despite the fact that the Baron had tutors, in the sciences and philosophies, the women in the household were not entitled to any sort of training or education by the philosopher Pangloss. They were not formally taught and if they wanted to learn things, they would have to go to private tutoring without the knowledge of the Baron. Women didn’t know anything about money or about the sciences. Cunègonde, was so fascinated by the sciences that she would hide in the .....

Racism By Police Officers
<view this essay>.... their jobs. For instance, in the past there have been a couple of cases where officers have stopped a black man driving his car and beaten him. Not because he’s trying to getaway or anything of that nature, but because he is black and the police officers don’t like black people. Officers have also stopped other minorities, because the police assumed that because of whom they are that they must be doing something wrong.
The police have been known to be racist towards teenagers and women also. It is less of an issue now but definitely still exists. Many male police officers don’t want women on the force and don’t believe that they can perform the job as well .....

Race Relations In The United States
<view this essay>.... and our ancient faith in the quality of human dignity to
become the world’s first truly multiracial democracy?”
Is such a democracy possible? Or will our differences always come
between us? Looking around today it might seem a little odd for Clinton to
call for racial healing. “For now, no cities are burning. No divisive
events like the O.J. Simpson trial are preoccupying Americans. Among
African-Americans overall, income, life expectancy and employment have been
rising.” A Gallup poll released in early June showed that 74% of the
black respondents said they were satisfied with the way things were going
in their personal lives and also with their sta .....

Multiculturalism In The United States
<view this essay>.... something to do with the United
States of America. But it is still difficult to know who is an American. I
believe that this difficulty has to do with the multiculturalism that
exists in this country.
The United States doesn't have a unique culture. In fact it is the
world's most multicultural country. The country has a lot of different
cultures, and not one is similar to the others. No culture is better or
worse than another. USA is different from other countries because that in
this country are living representatives of all cultures. It is normal to
meet people from all over the world in most every city; what is not normal
is the idea of understanding th .....

Third World Countries
<view this essay>.... poor towns which have had a lack of food sources due to the serious
poverty, lack of clean drinking water, lack of good sanitation systems,
lack of good living conditions, lack of jobs and there is no industry,
therefore no import or export revenue. The governments of the "Third
World" countries have done horrible jobs of creating good living conditions
for their people and in all have not tried to bring their country out of
their economic slump.
As Canada entered it second century, Prime Minister Trudeau called for
a complete review of Canada's foreign policy. Starting in 1968 interested
Canadians including politicians, journalists, professors, .....

First Stand
<view this essay>.... social status is all about how people live their lives at
different ranks. Education, everyone needs it to get a halfway descent
life today. Technology will be the most important in the future because it
could be the answer to most of our problems.
The single word that most Americans know and sometimes fear is WAR.
It hurts, maims, and kills millions of Americans. And why are wars
started? Because some power hungry dictator wants more space, money or
natural recourses. I think that a lot of the wars that we have had in
countries could have been prevented. Especially with all the new
technology we have today. Back when it was George Washington leadin .....

Sitting Down As A Family For Dinner
<view this essay>.... local eatery.
Families saw this afternoon meal as more than a time to sit down and eat after a weary day. Instead it was a time filled with sharing. It was a time when the entire family gathered, children of all ages included and everyone got along.
What happened to this time? Did the days get shorter? No…the same twenty-four hours still constitutes a day. Now no one seems to have time to share, to sit down together as a family and enjoy a meal. Now dinner time is full of interruptions; the sounds of shouting and laughter from the Drew Carry show or a honk for the passing cars at the Sonic. No longer is there assurance in knowing that every member of .....
