World Cultures: Comparing China And The United States
<view this essay>.... of value. But in China their values are
different, mostly because of their communist government. They want to do
everything for the good of the group, or their country, the more they can help
out the better.
The government of China you probably already know, it's one of the last
communist governments left in the world. In a communist government the
government runs everything, the businesses and jobs, they pay everyone equally.
This does though have problems. People have no incentive to work, no matter
how good a job they do they still get the same pay. In the US we have a
Democratic-Republic which means we elect who we want to run the government for
us. .....

Should Adopted Children Be Allowed To Locate Their Biological Parents?
<view this essay>.... The decision was made a long time ago because it was the
best one at that time.
Think about the birth parents involved. What happens after you spend a
few months or more of your life trying to locate these people only to have a
door shut in your face? How would you feel if that were to happen? The chances
of this happening are pretty good. Yes, there are happy reunions on talk shows
that turn out for the better, but that is not always the reality. These people
gave up their birth rights many years ago and should not go back on that. They
have moved on with their lives and might not want to be reminded what could have
been. So many hurt feelings and feelings .....

Stereotype: Speaking Mandarin
<view this essay>.... said I was hired and told me I would be paid in cash but of course under the minimal wage. At that time I didn't think much of it, I was just excited that I had gotten the job on the spot, the next day was a completely different story.
When I went into work the day after, I was confronted by the cooks who were obviously illegal immigrants working in Canada. They started to introduce themselves to me but in Mandarin and I explained that I could only speak English, the expressions on their face dramatically changed into a frown and a bit of disgust. The Manger overheard the conversation and said, "You can't speak Mandarin? Oh, that will be a prob .....

Reality Is Perception
<view this essay>.... exist without
one being able to confirm its existence? Is the sensory perception of a fly
wrong just because it has over a 1000 eyes or is the way humans view the world
incorrect because we do not? A blind man can still help a person distinguish a
colour because no one perception is ever totally interpreted by only one sensory
organ. Many other animals on earth do not just rely on there sight for
information about their world. For instance fish in totally dark areas of the
ocean have no eyes and yet can still maneuver around in there environment by
sensing ripples in their area with special sense organs on their body. Birds
also seem to use the magnet .....

labor in the newly developed colonies. After the 1680's, the population of
the Indentured Servants decreased, exponentially. Their were a number of
different reasons why the population of Indentured Servents had decreased.
The indentured servents were running away from their temporary masters, to

immigration of servents thus declined, becuase of the people in England

The Sociolect Of Teenage Jocks
<view this essay>.... considered highly unacceptable. To give an example of
all these features, I once witnessed a jock get into an argument with
another student in front of a group of jocks. The argument consisted of “
Get the f*ck out of here. Don’t mess with me!”, a red face as his anger
level mounted and punches when he did not get his own way. The rock, by
being seldom broken, can prove its precedence to the rest of the quarry.
Diction of a jock is overridden with abbreviations, such as DL which means
Down Low, slang words consisting of the common Asshole, Bitch or “F*ck You”
and newer slang including words such as phat which means cool or good. A
jock’s body language .....

Ethics And Advertising
<view this essay>.... ads, it is not our responsibility to interpret an ad’s honesty and accuracy. The definition of truth in this case should be the leaving out of any false statements used in an effort to deceive, and all relevant information, the good and the bad, must be included in the statement. The evidence and reasoning supporting the claim [must be] clear, accurate, relevant, and sufficient in quantity. Advertisers assume that we have the rationality to make decisions based on the information we are given, but how can we possibly make a rational decision when much of the information is left out? Or when the information given are exaggerations or downright lies?

What Are You Watching
<view this essay>.... say it violates the First Amendment rights of the broadcasters, and enforces government censorship on the television industry.
Even though the President has already signed the V-chip legislation into law, it remains at the heart of a heated political battle. The strongest objection raised to the V-chip by its opponents is that it violates the First Amendment Rights of the broadcasters. They claim that the government is imposing a system of censorship that will lead to "blander" and "less dramatic" television (“V-Chip: A Matter of Law” 21).
Representative Ed Markey (D-Mass.), who spearheaded the drive for the V-chip, argues that there is nothing in the legisl .....
