Organic Compounds
<view this essay>.... compounds directly from inorganic substances! This amazing
discovery marked the beginning of modern organic chemist. Today we define
organic chemistry as the chemistry of carbon compounds. (pg.579, Smoot,
Price, and Smith, Merill Chemistry)
The largest group of organic compounds are the hydrocarbons. These
compounds are composed only of carbon and hydrogen. Almost all other
organic compounds can be considered as derivatives of the hydrocarbons. If
the carbon atoms are linked in chains, the compounds are called aliphatic
compounds. If the atoms are linked in rings, the compounds are called
cyclic compounds. (pg.581, ...ibid...)

The Chlorine Debate: How White Do You Want It?
<view this essay>.... Davy determined that chlorine was a chemical element and named it
from the Greek word meaning greenish-yellow. One hundred and eighty-five years
later, chlorine compounds are ubiquitous components in the manufacturing of
paper, plastics, insecticides, cleaning fluids, antifreeze, paints, medicines,
and petroleum products. The unfortunate and unavoidable by-product of these
manufacturing processes is dioxin, one of the most toxic substances on the
planet earth. Dioxins are also produced whenever chlorine containing substances,
such as PVC, are burned.

Mans Discovery Of Fossil Fuels Could Be His Downfall. Discus
<view this essay>.... history transportation could be provided without the use of domesticated animals. Steam engines were used in steam locomotives, steam tractors and steam ships (B.Nebel and R.Wright 1995). Stationary steam engines were rapidly established in all the major industries. The major fuel for steam engines was firewood. By the end of the 1800’s, the demand for energy was ever increasing and firewood around industrial centres was becoming scarce. This led to a switch to coal as the major source for fuel and energy. As well as powering steam engines coal became widely used for heating, cooking and industrial processes.

Astrology
<view this essay>.... of the sun. As
a primitive calendar, the zodiacal belt was arbitrarily divided into twelve
sections of 30 degrees each. these are the famous signs of the zodiac. The
orgins of the names given to each sign extend into the most remote regions of
antiquity. Terrestrial animal gods, whether real or imagined , were one day
projected onto the constellations which, in the Chaldean imagination, they
resembled. This celestial menagerie has furthermore given the zodiac its name,
for in greek, it means "route of animals."
The sun enters the first zodiacal sign, Aries , and then continues its path
through the remaining eleven signs. The twelve signs of the zodi .....

Copernicus
<view this essay>.... a theory
about planetary motion. The three most popular instruments which
used were quadrant, armilla, and triquetrum. All furnish some measure of the
position of the heavenly body. It took an endless amount of mathematical
calculations to come up with the Copernicus' theory. He had to find out how
fast the Earth spins around the Sun, and how far the Sun is. He also had to
calculate the length of the orbit of the Earth. People use math in every walk
of life. In our days everything is related to math, and Copernicus used his
knowledge of mathematics to provide the human kind with an important discovery.
Only a small amount of people are interested i .....

Anabolic Steroids
<view this essay>.... pound weakling into the hulk in a month. Steroids alone do not make muscles grow. They only aid in muscle growth. Steroids basically speed up muscle repair and slow down the body’s natural tendency to break down muscle. Popular media has insinuated to the public about horror stories and the dangers. If they are so dangerous then why do doctors prescribe them? Why do pharmacies all over the planet still make them and sell them?
To have an opinion on whether steroids are safe are not, it would help to know how they work and what responsibilities are needed when choosing to take them.

Archaeology
<view this essay>.... archaeological data can be related to past human behaviors or actions.
Patterning is used to interpret past human behavior because the products of human action usually suggest repetitiveness or a pattern of activity that can be discerned by the archaeologist. For example in the Olsen-Chubbuck site in Colorado, a bison graveyard was discovered of 190 bison. The pattern or relationship between the bones and how they were found gives the archaeologist clues as to how the bison were butchered. Some bones were found with spear points in the bodies, some whole skeletons were found closer to the bottom, and some bones were scattered all over. It can be inferre .....

Cryogenic
<view this essay>.... It has little basic in fact. But some people accept Cryonics, because it tells them something they want to believe.
Once you have been declared dead, doctors or morticians will work to keep you cool. They inject you with heparin to prevent blood clots, hook you up to a heart-lung machine to keep oxygen and blood moving through your system artificially, and get you to the cryonics center as quickly as possible. The optimum time from death to arrival at the center is less than an hour. Some patients have arrived as late as six hours after death.
At the center, your body is put on a table in the perfusion room. A team of three or four technicians work to .....
