Should The Harris Superquarry Go Ahead?
<view this essay>.... initial 30
jobs, rising to 80 as the quarry reaches peak production. The question is if
a superquarry is the best solution to the problems of a remote rural area.
What will happen when the jobs come to an end and would another form of
investment not be more appropriate to their needs? Would the presence of a
quarry restrict the choice for further development? Could an integrated
approach be adopted and a 2nd generation quarry planned? The decision of
whether or not to go ahead cannot be delayed indefinitely as Norway and Spain
are looking at developing their own. If it is to go ahead then an early start
will give Harris a stronger position in the market. .....

Eye
<view this essay>.... It lies within a bony socket of the skull. The lids guard it in front. They blink an average of once every six seconds. This washes the with the salty secretion from the tear, or lachrymal, glands. Each tear gland is about the size and shape of an almond. These glands are located behind the upper lid at the outer corner of the . After passing over the , the liquid from the gland is drained into the nose through the tear duct at the inner corner of the .
Heavy laughter or crying causes muscles in the upper lid to squeeze the lachrymal gland. This produces tears that flow too fast to be drained away. The lashes catch many flying particles that otherwise woul .....

Killer Bees
<view this essay>.... 500 km (300 mi) per year. By the 1980s, Africanized honeybees had reached Central America and soon colonized Mexico. In 1990, the first swarm was found in the United States. The bees spread from Texas to New Mexico and Arizona and then into California by 1994.
The bees reached an apparent climatic limit to their southern range in the middle of Argentina, and their range is expected to be similarly limited to the southern and coastal states in the United States. They have hybridized to some extent with resident wild and hive populations of European honeybees. However, many of the basic African honeybee traits remain, including rapid population growth, frequent .....

Dna 4
<view this essay>.... foiled and coiled.
DNA makes an exact copy of itself just before cell division begins. This process of DNA duplication is known as replication. The hydrogen bond between the base pairs of the 2 nucleotide strands weaken, and the 2 strands break apart. Each strand acts as a template forming a new nucleotide. This is accomplished by the acting of 2 sets of enzymes - DNA helicase enzymes and DNA polymerase enzymes. The DNA helicase enzymes separate the 2 nucleotide strands. The site where the helicase is working and where replication is taking place is known as the DNA fork. The polymerase enzyme helps the nitrogenous base in a given nucleotide to pick up and att .....

The Positive Effects Of DDT
<view this essay>.... others hold no truth at all. The most redeeming feature of DDT is
its ability to protect crops from a variety of different pests. This is
why DDT is known as the most effective pesticide ever produced (Ray 71).
It is proven to have been the most effective chemical ever to prevent the
spread of malaria all over the world. It nearly wiped out the disease in
some countries altogether. It has been repeatedly proven that DDT does not
cause any form of cancer in humans. Contrary to what environmentalist
attacks on the pesticide have alleged, the benefits of DDT far exceed the
flaws.

Neon is an element that is lighter than air. The element is found most common in the atmosphere of the earth. It is also found in the earth’s crust. Sir Walter Ramsey and Morris W. Travers discovered it in 1898. Its uses include electric signs, lamps, and lasers.
