Christmas History
<view this essay>.... Day itself is the day for opening gifts
brought by jolly old St. Nick. Many of our current American ideals about the
way Christmas ought to be, derive from the English Victorian Christmas, such as
that described in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."
The caroling, the gifts, the feast, and the wishing of good cheer to all - these
ingredients came together to create that special Christmas atmosphere.
The custom of gift-giving on Christmas goes back to Roman festivals of
Saturnalia and Kalends. The very first gifts were simple items such as twigs
from a sacred grove as good luck emblems. Soon that escalated to food, small
items of jewelry, candles, and s .....

Christianity’s Mission
<view this essay>.... Daniel of Winchester writes to Saint Boniface concerning the methods of converting the Germanic peoples. Although all of this information is very useful so far, I will now begin my analysis on how I was able to conjugate these theories about what life was like during the times of Christianity’s expansion throughout Germanic territory.
It is apparent that the Christians of the new Western Roman Empire had a huge task that waited before them. Their attempts to convert many of the various tribes that existed throughout what is now current Europe, called for serious thought on how they were to accomplish this mission. It is easy to see this when examinin .....

Mormons In Utah
<view this essay>.... the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Its founding doctrine is based on the assumption that Christianity was too
corrupt and ungodly, and that restoring true Christian values was necessary. A
revelation like this may only come through God who needs to put the true, pure
forms of Christianity in a divine authority.
The Mormons, who follow four books including The Bible, The Book of
Mormon, Doctrine of Covenants, and Pearl of a Great Price do believe that all
religions have some amount of truth to them and do good in one form or another,
but it is only their religion that is " the only true and living church upon
Earth".
In 1820 , Mormonism .....

The Church Is Foundation In Christ
<view this essay>.... it is with faith that she accepts the seed to be laid in her womb. He asserts that it is not a obscure faith but "a faith that is fully incarnate that embraces body soul and spirit so that they can become the vessel of God's Word" (Figures of the Church, p. 199). The Incarnation is possible through Mary who, by virtue of her faith, is "pre-redeemed." She accepts an Incarnation and the redemption inherent within it. Her assent is made possible:
…by the Incarnation and the Cross (in her "anticipated redemption")
and which is, at the same time, one of the conditions required for the
Incarnation, accomplishing the unity of the conditions required for the

The Buddha's Four Noble Truths: A Logical Basis For Philosophy
<view this essay>.... Nirodha (cessation of suffering), and Magga
(path to cessation of suffering). The Buddha's Four Noble Truths are based on
archetypal traits that were elucidated through careful empirical observance and
intensive introspection. These Four Noble Truths form a logically coherent set
of axioms upon which the whole of Buddhism is based, and provide a solid
foundation for a philosophy which is applicable several millennia after its
formulation.{1}

Monasticism And The Code Of Chivalry
<view this essay>.... Egypt. They were called hermit monks. But others,
Christians, had their ideas of the way that a Christian life should be lived.
They wanted to live in a community, so they could worship together as a group
instead of being alone.
Benedict of Nursia established a rule that was used by most of the monks
as a way of life. In this there were three specific vows, they are used to make
it easier for monks to be closer to God. They are poverty, chastity, and
obedience.
Poverty meant that the need for money and material possessions were not
needed as a means of worship. The monasteries gave the monks the things that
they needed, and this was only the bare essent .....

Thesis: Is There A God Or Is He(?) An Illusion?
<view this essay>.... Such indefinite
notions are transformed into a distinct conception of a higher order than human
beings, and yet somehow resembling them. As it may seem, humans have a
metaphysical (speculative) need for a Supreme Being. God, as we call him. He
is the eternal and infinite Spirit, Creator of the Universe, and the ultimate
power. We present him with human characteristics in all concepts of God, which
has led me to believe that it is not God who created man in His image, but man
who creates God in his.
Religion is one such need based on myth and spiritualism. People are taught
about their religion at a young age, and when they grow up they attempt t .....
