Hamlet: A Man Of Many Qualities
<view this essay>.... to be revealed through his conversation
with the people that he cares about, namely his family and friends.
The queen, Gertrude, is hamlet's mother and she is probably the living being
that he cares about the most. Unfortunately, one of Hamlet's qualities, which
is revealed in conversation with his mother, is a negative one and that is anger.
His quality is displayed through Hamlet's soliloquy in Act 1, Scene 2, Lines
131© 161. Hamlet is angry at his mother for marrying a new husband, his uncle,
Claudius, so quickly after his father's death. This anger shines through in
such phrases such as "Frailty, thy name is woman!"(Act 1,Sc 2, L148) and "Like

honors; his delight lies primarily in buying golden opinions from all sorts of
people. But we must not, therefore, deny him an entirely human complexity of
motives. For example, his fighting in Duncan's service is magnificent and
courageous, and his evident joy in it is traceable in art to the natural
pleasure which accompanies the explosive expenditure of prodigious physical
energy and the euphoria which follows. He also rejoices no doubt in the success
which crowns his efforts in battle - and so on. He may even conceived of the
proper motive which should energize back of his great deed:
The service and the loyalty I owe, In doing it, pays itself. But .....

marrying to Paris, refuses to give Juliet counsel. "Talk not to me, for I'll not

Contrast Essay: Romeo And Juliet
<view this essay>.... act very serious. The reader can tell this by the way the two speak.
Romeo says that the Holy Words the Friar speaks can make something without an
equal (Act II, Scene 6, Line 4) which is a very intelligent thing to say.
Whereas, in the movie they kiss and giggle the entire time. This leads the
viewer to believe that Franco Zefferelli wanted the two to look like fools, that
they could not do anything the way it is normally done because they are children
in search of quick love. This is bad because it is not very realistic. In
real-life, young adults would take the matter seriously because they know it is
a major step in life. Because the play is not en .....

King Lear - The Fool: A Motivated Character
<view this essay>.... the play. Shakespeare motivates the Fool in the play to be a pure character who makes a great impact on the King and others.
The Fool plays a great role in King Lear. Enid Weisford believes that the Fool is an “all licensed critic who sees and speaks the truth around him,” (162-165). He deals with the tragic aspect of life in its most universal form. The conflict of good with evil, of wisdom with folly, and the hopeless cry for justice are presented by the Fool. He sees the inner truth about the world. “Thou wouldst make a good fool,” (I, 5, 38) said the Fool to his master at the beginning of his misfortunes. He spoke as a prophet. The king lost ever .....

Ophelia As A Reason For Hamlet's Madness
<view this essay>.... he starts to plan his revenge. In the beginning of the play Ophelia recognizes that Hamlet is having problems and forms an opinion, which hints to hamlet being mad or insane. She doesn’t really pay attention to Hamlet’s real needs and purpose for being upset. What should have happened is. Hamlet would of let Ophelia know the truth about Claudius so that Ophelia would have a better understanding of where Hamlet is coming from. By recognizing this first, many problems in the original tragedy wouldn’t have taken place.
With Ophelia aware of the murderer, she takes matters into her own hands due to her love for Hamlet. Secretly she kills Claudius, but the cause f .....

Twelfth Night: Theme Of Love
<view this essay>.... the emotion of love is true, and the two people
involved feel very strongly toward one another. Viola's love for Orsino is a
great example of true love. Although she is pretending to be a man and is
virtually unknown in Illyria, she hopes to win the Duke's heart. In act 1,
scene 4, Viola let's out her true feelings for Cesario, "yet a barful strife!
Whoe'er I woo, myself would be his wife (1)." That statement becomes true when
Viola reveals her true identity. Viola and Orsino had a very good friendship,
and making the switch to husband and wife was easy. Viola was caught up in
another true love scenario, only this time she was on the receiving end, and

The Theater Of Dionysus

row, stood a circular space called the orchestra where the Chorus would sing and
dance, and in the center of which stood the alter of Dionysus. The orchestra
level was around 3 meters higher than the shrine. Behind the orchestra, there
lied a heavy rectangular foundation known as the stage on which the actors would
perform their section of the play. The back of the stage had a building painted
to look like the front of a temple or a palace. Here, the actors would retire
when they were not needed on stage or would go to when they had to change their
costumes. Above lay the deep blue sky, behind it was the Acropolis, and seen i .....
