Decriminalizing Prostitution
<view this essay>.... the few countries with laws against prostitution. It is legal only in
the state of Nevada. The rationale for its continued illegal status in the
United States rests on three assumptions: prostitution is linked to
organized crime, prostitution leads to violence, and prostitution is the
cause of an increase in sexually transmitted diseases.
Organized crime is “any group having a corporate structure whose
primary objective is to obtain money through illegal activities, often
surviving on fear and corruption,” (“Interpool” by Fenton Bresler, page 1).
A person engaging in organized crime has the sole purpose of generating
profits from his/her victims. His crime .....

Capital Punishment Deters Murder, And Is Just Retribution
<view this essay>.... 26, 1987 edition of the Globe
and Mail, titled "B.C. MPs split on Death Penalty".
The death penalty deters murder by putting the fear of death into would
be killers. A person is less likely to do something, if he or she thinks that
harm will come to him. Another way the death penalty deters murder, is the fact
that if the killer is dead, he will not be able to kill again.
Most supporters of the death penalty feel that offenders should be
punished for their crimes, and that it does not matter whether it will deter the
crime rate. Supporters of the death penalty are in favour of making examples
out of offenders, and that the threat of death wi .....

Marijuana
<view this essay>.... it to relieve his back pain. Also, many of America's great leaders were
hemp farmers. This includes good ol' George Washington. Archeologists believe
that cannabis was possibly the first plant farmed by humans.
Many people think that marijuana is addictive, but this is false.
Marijuana is less habit forming than either sugar or chocolate. When users take
marijuana, it doesn't lead to violence-related crimes. Most users commit crime
because they want to get marijuana, but this problem can be easily solved if the
government would legalize marijuana again. When you take marijuana, it doesn't
make you violent, in fact it leads to non-violence.

Drugs And Legalization
<view this essay>.... factor would help to reduce the role of the drug
dealer. A potential customer would probably choose to buy a market-tested
product from a pharmacy as opposed to buying a product of unknown dosage and
quality from a corner dealer.
Without the advantage of large profits, the drug dealing profession
would lose its luster. A major problem is that teenagers see selling drugs as
the only way to make money. Minimum wage salaries can not compare to the huge
profits associated with dealing. In a drug community, the drug dealers are seen
as the center of the community. They become role models for the children,
replacing their parents. Eliminating the drug dealer will .....

Accounting Ethics
<view this essay>.... Within competition several points are discussed. First,
the implications advertising has on public accounting-- the model of
perfect competition versus the model of monopolistic competition.
Secondly, the relationship between firm size and advertising expenditures.
Thirdly, the effect of advertising on firm specialization, the
implications of client turnover on public accounting practice.
Before making the comparison, a brief explanation why the two
models are chosen is in order. Monopolistic competition has been chosen
for the pre-advertising era because it most closely resembles the market
structure in an extreme sense. The elements of monopolistic com .....

Legalization Of Marjuana
<view this essay>.... you may be getting yourself in to. This afternoon I
will give you both sides of the issue. I will try to persuade you to stay away
from marijuana in turning you against this dangerous drug.
Many supporters of marijuana claim that hemp can be a very resourceful
plant. Hemp is considered to contain less than one percent
tetrahydrocannabinols (THC) (Pluff 1). THC is the psychoactive chemical found
in marijuana. Hemp can be confused with marijuana and considered the same, but
do not let this fool you. Marijuana comes from the flowers or "buds" of the
hemp plant. These buds are what contains the THC and gives the user the high
effect (Pluff 1). Other .....

The Death Of A Criminal
<view this essay>.... a punishment that fits the crime.
Anti-death penalty supporters argue the death penalty is unconstitutional -- "Capital punishment is a barbaric remnant of an uncivilized society. It is immoral in principle, and unfair and discriminatory in practice. It assures the execution of some innocent people. As a remedy for crime, it has no purpose and no effect (American Civil Liberties Union National Office 2-16-95)."
In 1972, the Supreme Court in Furman v. Georgia ruled that the death penalty for murder was unconstitutional. They also argue that the death penalty costs too much to carry out (Academic American Encyclopedia "Capital Punishment").
Yet, in 1976, the .....

Capital Punishment
<view this essay>.... times a
set of laws were written which specified many crimes punishable by capital
punishment. These laws were the Code of Hammurabi. Some of the punishable
crimes mentioned included adultery, robbery witchcraft, and murder. During the
Middle Ages, the Church assumed the responsibility of administering punishments.
During the late 1700's the death penalty steadily grew in acceptance. Over
200 crimes were punishable by death at the beginning of the 1800's. There were
just as many methods used to execute wrong-doers as there were crimes. Some of
the techniques used included beheading, stoning, drowning, hanging, crucifying,
and burying people alive. A .....
