Cordelia does love her father dearly, and knows why her sisters spoke as they did, but is not prepared to take advantage of her ignorant father’s pride simply to bring her land and power. Lear’s reaction to this can be likened to that of a spoiled child and in his fury, divides the rest of his Kingdom between Goneril and Regan, and casts Cordelia away from him. ‘Hence, and avoid my sight!’ A fundamental part of Lear’s mistake is what he expects to hear .....

The repetitive “I” in these paragraphs is important because it comes from the lawyer's thoughts of himself. For this text to flow in it's intended path, the reader must know a great deal about the lawyer and his employees. In fact, it is these characters which consummately defines the text. This reality gadget restricts Garson from certain thoughts and certain actions and forces him into others. Unaware of his programming, Garson represents man's naive attitudes towards the forces of the mass. With the discovery of the reality tape, Garson than understands that his life is inflexible and determined by a tape, and accepts his circumstance. Then, almost all at once, everything starts going horribly wrong in true King style. Kemp informs Vic of the affair. Ouch. Donna's life is quite obviously ruined. Brett and Charity discover the "decent people" aren't quite as decent as they thought, and then there's Cujo - who contracts rabies. They make themselves into people they are not. It is truly one our societies ills and it appears to have been a problem in history as well in the eyes of Oscar Wilde. Another theme of the play is that people narrow their choices and trap them into a restricted mind set. The main female character of the work does this. And for this reason (Chambers could do something that Tom could not do), Tom pushed the canoe under Chambers as he was in a mid-air dive. The result was that Chambers was unconscious and Tom’s spirit was gratified. Later on, when they were about fifteen, the boys were swimming in the river as usual, Tom fell ill to a cramp in the water and Chambers saved his life. Instead of being grateful to Chambers and thanking him, Tom said that "anybody but a blockheaded nigger would have known he was funning and left him [Tom] alone" .....
