.... The whole house was painted bright colors, making it seem more fresh and new. Compared to her house, which happened to be all white! Giving the sense that it was boring and plain, which Beverly seemed to think it, was. The school was even worse… Each room was painted a dark green, while the desks where in a triangular form as if it were an elementary class. Besides the schools lack of fashion Beverly had a great time getting to know everyone. If you lived close by (which she did) you could just spend the night at home, but if not the school principles were always willing to rent dorms to those in need of them. Each dorm had a twin size bed and a nightstand righ .....

.... imagery of a novel is a key factor in elaborating upon the light-hearted and carefree elements, as opposed to the dark and immoral components of the setting in which the novel takes place. For example, imagery can be used in a likable manner to achieve the desired affect of making the reader enjoy and love the setting so that the theme may be elevated. In Edith Wharton’s Ethan Frome, Wharton first presents Starkfield as a cheery uplifting town saying, ‘The winter morning was clear as a crystal. The sunrise burned red in a pure sky, the shadows on the rim of the wood-lot were darkly blue, and beyond the white scintillating fields of far-off .....

.... new men. He has an old dog who used to help work around the farm and the men are constantly nagging him to let them shoot the dog and put it out of it's misery. Curley is the boss' son. He's a thin young man with brown eyes and a head of curly hair. 's married and doesn't pay much attention to@his wife, which uses problems requently- Curley is insecure about his height and hates bigger men. He's all the time picking fights to try and prove whose the t. Crooks is a crippled blackman who envies Lennie and George. He"too/ would like to invest in their farm. The men are always picking on Crooks and Curley's wife threatens to have him hung all the time. The boss is .....

.... like white elephants" (170). She is comparing the hills to her own situation-- pregnancy. "They’re lovely hills. They really don’t look like white elephants. I just meant the coloring of their skin through the trees" (171). Just as the hills have their distinct beauty to her, she views pregnancy in the same fashion making the reference to the hills having skin—an enlarged mound forming off of what was once flat. The man views pregnancy as the opposite. When the girl is talking about the white elephants and agrees that the man has never seen one, his response is, "I might have, just because you say I haven’t doesn’t prove anything" (17 .....

.... to overcome each problem barring his way to a peaceful homecoming in Ithaca. When Odysseus left the conquered Troy and landed on the island of the Cyclopsians, he utilized the resources near him to escape from the evil Cyclops Polyphemos. Odysseus drugged Polyphemos with a strong wine he had gotten from the plunder of Troy. While Polyphemos was sleeping, Odysseus and his men carved a sharp stake from a wooden pole. They then counted to three and shoved it hot from the fire into the Cyclops’ eye. Then as the blinded Cyclops guarded the door with his sense of touch, Odysseus quickly gathered his men and instructed them to hang on to the belly of the sheep .....

.... and his wistfulness at growing old. He seems to look back at youth with a sad longing. Each of these three poems are alike in that they are all about woods and outdoors or an item in the woods. The word "wood" or "woods" is used in each of these poems, at least once. It is used to represent both literally the tree or trees, and figuratively, they represent a journey to peace, a climb to "heaven". In "The Road Not Taken", the "wood" is merely the setting. It is described as a "yellow wood". This is obviously fall. I can see the orange, yellow and red leaves, lying all around. The gray/brown bark o .....
