Ayn Rand's Anthem: Themes
<view this essay>.... It is based on the principles of solidarity. Outside of the mandated one, no other thought processes are allowed. People are assigned jobs to which they cannot protest, removing the luxury of choosing an enjoyable job. Individuals are not allowed personal goals, rather the good of the entire society is the collective goal.
People in this society do not work towards their own happiness. They work only for what is taught to be the common happiness. True pleasures of life are not allowed. kill it no doubt from the taboo of killing. The second time he meets the pig he
kills it with his knife and this is only the beginning of the change in his
behavior. Jack's wanting of meat turns into obvious bloodlust later on in the
novel, for example he kills the mother pig without even thinking if it was
wrong: "Kill the pig, cut her throat, bash her head in!". Jack's decapitation
of the dead mother pig proves that he is no longer the Jack that could not kill
the pig but a much more blood-thirsty one that only wants to kill and not be
rescued. Although Jack is not satanic like Roger, he loses all .....

In this novel two very distinct families create a picture of passionate love, hate and revenge. It is centered on three dominant characters: Catherine Earnshaw, Edgar Linton, and Heathcliff. Catherine is in love with both men, but for different reasons. Heathcliff is a vengeance ridden, cold, wild tempered, working class man who destroys the lives of everyone around him in seeking restitution for the injustices against him as a young boy. Edgar Linton is well-mannered, considerate, .....
