Animal Farm Theme
<view this essay>.... a spirit of selfishness and privilege?
Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our
sole object is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this has been
proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the
well being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and
organization of this farm depends on us. Day and night we are watching
over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink the milk and eat
those apples. Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed in our duty?
Jones would come back! Yes, Jones would come back! Surely, comrades,”
cried Squealer almost pleadingly, skipping f .....

Analysis Of Pearl In Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter"
<view this essay>.... punishment.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the character of Pearl in the
Scarlet Letter. Her whole life had many difficulties while living in Puritan
New England. Furthermore, Pearl displays much parallelism to the scarlet letter
that Hester must wear. Finally, Pearl's birth intensified the conflicts in the
novel. Clearly, Pearl becomes the symbol of all the other major characters'
tragedies.
Chronology
The character of Pearl in the Scarlet Letter lived a very difficult life.
Before the novel begins, Hester Prynne gives birth to Pearl after having an
affair with Arthur Dimmesdale, a Puritan minister. Pearl .....

probably obeyed it out of fear for their life. For sinners are in the
hands of a angry God.
Many years later Nathaniel Hawthorn was greatly interested by the
Puritans. This 19th-century American novelist, was born on July 4, in
Salem, Massachusetts, and died May 11, 1864. He was the first American
writer to apply artistic judgment to Puritan society. He was intrigued by
the psychological insight into the complexities of human motivations and
actions. In The Scarlet Letter, he expressed one of the central legacies
of American Puritanism, using the plight of Hester Prynne and Arthur
Dimmesdale to illustrate the conflict between the desire to confess .....

As I Lay Dying: Styles Used By William Faulkner

is, and we learn an important family secret.
Darl is often used as an objective speaker, although he is indeed
involved with the situation he is speaking about. In this chapter he
recalls Jewel's purchase of his horse. This is a strong clue that Jewel is
not Anse's son, since Anse is extremely lazy and would never work as hard
as Jewel did for a horse. We also see the tension between Anse and Jewel.
We see the lack of respect Jewel has for Anse. It is rather ironic when
Anse says "He's just lazy, trying me" (p. 129) Since Jewel has been working
really hard, and it is Anse who is lazy. Furthering on Jewel and Anse's
relationship, I feel that .....

The Pardoner: "The Root Of All Evil Is Money"

example of this is illustrated in “The Pardoner's Tale.” His account of
three rioters who set out to conquer Death and instead deliver it upon each
other, as well as the prologue which precedes the tale, reveal the
truthfulness of the aforementioned statement as it applies to humanity in
general and the Pardoner himself.
Before he even begins his tale, the Pardoner delivers a sort of
disclaimer, informing the pilgrims of his practices within the church.
The Pardoner was an expert at exploiting parishioners' guilt for
his financial gain. He sold them various “relics” that supposedly cured
ailments ranging from sick cattle to jealousy. And if .....

Beowulf - Significance Of Scyl
<view this essay>.... poet of Beowulf is rambling, ranting unrelated events and apparently digressing from the main topic. However, even though no concrete conclusions or links are presented between Scefing and Beowulf, the reader learns soon enough that the seemingly digressive poet had in truth, slyly and with all intention inserted some indirect indications in the tale of Scefing. As the poem reaches its finale, the reader recognizes in an epiphany the sophisticated construction employed by the poet in the weaving of Scefing as foreshadowing of Beowulf.
In retrospect, Scefing is essentially Beowulf himself. It is stated that Scefing is a warrior, a conqueror, gifted the spoil .....
