The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn: Superstitutions
<view this essay>.... and did not know if it would work.
These superstitions and remedies seem pretty far fetched and it is hard to
say where they originated, but I would have to say they originated down
South. I think it originated down south because I am from up North and I
have never heard any one speak of those superstitions. Huck believes in
these probably because he grew up with them and they were always taught to
him and he is so ignorant he does not know better.
One morning Huck turned over the salt-cellar at breakfast. He went
to throw the salt- cellar over his left shoulder to cancel the bad luck,
but Miss Watson stopped him. All day he wondered when something would .....

Gulliver's Travels: Summary
<view this essay>.... and man in general.
In Gulliver's first travel, in which he visited Lilliput, Gulliver is
faced with the minute people, called Lilliputians. Now while this is the
premise for a fantasy story, Swift uses the events within to make severe
criticisms of England between reigns of Queen Anne and George the first. The
people of Lilliput are about six inches tall, and there size signifies that
their motives, acts, and humanity are in the same, dwarfish (Long 276). In this
section, the royal palace is accidentally set on fire, containing the empress
inside. Instead of making his way across town, to the ocean, squashing the
people of Lilliput as he goes, Gullive .....

for the frequent reminders of how he used to be, in the form of
flashbacks to his childhood and other emotionally blocked parts of his

realization that some people he had put on a pedestal are not as good as
they seem. He also starts to think about romance.
Miss Kinnian, or Alice as he later in the book calls her, is
Charlie’s night school teacher and then a romantic interest and then a
teacher again. She liked the old Charlie, but when he starts becoming
smart she finds it harder and harder to kee .....

Later on in the story when Elinor and Marianne are in London, Marianne continually gets on to Elinor for not sharing her feelings. Elinor finally shows her emotions when she tells Marianne she did have a broken heart, after she found out Edward had a fiancé. When Elinor did find out about Lucy Steele she did not even tell lucy of her feelings to try to break them up. That is what I would have done. Elinor would definitely represent sense. She keeps things to herself. I think because she thinks if sh .....
