The Ironies Of 1984
<view this essay>.... an incinerator.
The next example of irony comes when you learn about the departments of
Government in Oceania. The Ministry of Truth is actually the maker of lies
for the history books, the Ministry of Love discourages love, and the
Ministry of Peace is actually quite violent. The final example of verbal
Irony can be seen in the name of the leader of Oceania, "Big Brother." The
concept of a big brother is one whom is older and wiser and helps the
"littler siblings" -- this not the case with 1984's Big Brother. The Big
Brother in this novel completely watches over every move a person makes
keeping them controlled with fear.
The next type of irony is Situation i .....

Review Of: I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings By Maya Angelou
<view this essay>.... most, is because I like how Maya Angelou described her uncle pretending
not to be crippled by standing erect at the counter. Although I liked many
other scenes in this book, such as when Maya Angelou writes about how much
she loved pineapples, this is my favorite scene that I can recall.
Maya Angelou's Uncle Willie interests me the most in this book. He
interests me the most out of all the other characters, because it makes me
think about how my life would be if I were crippled like he was.
At this point the only ideas that intrigue me, are being crippled
like Uncle Willie and what Uncle Willie would have to do if the Klan was
coming. The reason why what Unc .....

The cottage on Diamond Lake had a sign on the roadway bore in austere letters name MacLead. It was a large cottage; it was on the lakefront. Everything around the cottage were ferns, and sharp-branched raspberry bushes, and moss that had grown over fallen tree trunks. Above the backdoor there was the broad moose antlers that hung there.
Vanessa loved the summer at Diamond Lake because she loved to listen to the loons all night. She also loved because she w .....

A Comparison Of Hamlet And McMurphy In "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"
<view this essay>.... tragedy
describing the downfall of a rigidly administered ward in a mental
institution led by the rebellion of a new admission. The work I have
chosen to compare this novel to is the classic play by William Shakespeare,
Hamlet. There is an intimate relationship between these to works beyond
that they are both tragedies; the protagonist in each lacks conventional
hero qualities. Both Hamlet and R.P. McMurphy in One Flew Over the
Cuckoo's Nest, can be defined as anti-heroes making these two pieces
comparable for study.
To examine the aspect of anti-heroes in tragedy, and how this
relates to the characters of R.P.McMurphy and Hamlet, an analysis of the

The Crucible: John Proctor
<view this essay>.... as revenge, greed, and covering up their own behavior. The three major points I will be talking about in my essay about are as follows: 1 His entrance into the play where he is talking alone to Abigail and trying to convince himself that he is not an adulterer and that they did not have an affair. 2 when John is reciting the Ten Commandments. 3 where John tells Elizabeth that he are going to confess.
In the beginning of the play John Proctor is introduced as a farmer in his mid thirties, that is not a partisan of the town, and shows a very strong sense of self-preservation. The first real conversation he has with another character is with Abigail Williams, whe .....

Lord Of The Flies: Character Analysis Of Piggy

There are may other things that Piggy did to attempt to bring order to the island just like a grown-up. When Jack was busy hunting pigs and dancing about in the blood that engulfed him, Piggy just wanted people to listen to him. He yearned for someone to listen to his ideas without asking questions: when he suggested moving the fire to the beach, he just wanted a ship passing by to see them. Piggy mimicked adults, he did not run about in a savage nature, he was good. Being the only boy that wasn't violent, shows how diverse Pig .....

Animal Farm
<view this essay>.... in 1950 from a neglected lung ailment he left his work and ideas to us
and we grow trying to fulfill his demands.....failing.Introduction-
When I first looked at this book I thought It would be a children's
storybook. Then I noticed the thickness of the novel and opened it up. I
read the introduction and found that the novel was based on a political
matter, and I thought that the title was just a metaphor, and there were no
"animals" in the story. As I read I discovered the whole thing was a
metaphor.
The five topics I'll be covering are:
1. plot structure
2. conflict
3. point of view
4. symbolism .....
