Hesse's Siddhartha: Siddhartha's Character
<view this essay>.... applied it to compose his accurate philosophies of everyday life.
Siddhartha's character exemplifies the insatiable feeling that
everybody harbors. He stood for a unity of individuals. He stood for
their thirst, and most importantly he stood for their ultimate quench; He
stood for the insatiable feelings that all people have and need to
eventually fill.

restless and felt that he had learned all he had to learn amongst his
elders, and he was right. He chose to follow another path in life, a path

A Town Like Alice: Discussion
<view this essay>.... you live in. These two naturally affects culture a lot and the culture
affects them so there are no sharp limit between them.
An example from the book is the Australians, whose culture is rather close to
the English, but there are few Englishmen who would have liked the loneliness in
the big country Australia, and even fewer Australians, (I think), would feel
comfortable in the crowded England.
Another example in the book that is more about religion and culture is the
Japanese soldier who walked with the girls in Malaya when they got the stolen
poultry from Joe. The soldier is abused by his captain and he finds it so
humiliating that he looses his wil .....

A Stranger Is Watching
<view this essay>.... same after
this tragedy.When a new women,Sharon comes into Steve's life,Neil rejects
her.Neil thinks that if Sharon and his father get married ,his father will send
him away. When Neil and Sharon are held hostage together, Neil's feelings for
Sharon change;he begins to see her as a nice person and a motherlike figure.I
felt the author built this relationship up well so that the story would have a
happy ending.
I also like how the author made the character traits of the protagonist
completely conflict with the antagonist. The protagonist,Steve is a successful
man with a family and no problems;at least in the mind of the antagonist. The
antagonist has problems with .....

Hughes' "Black Voices Oby The Tales Of Simple": Jessie Semple
<view this essay>.... to be Black America's new spokesman and unsung
hero. Semple seems to possess just enough urban humor and cynicism, down-
home simplicity, naivete, and "boy-next-door innocence" that Semple easily
becomes a character that hard-working, average, everyday people can relate
to. He quickly becomes this sort of Black Everyman whose bunions hurt all
the time and whose thoughts are relatively quite simple, yet he is a man
who rises above these facts and has a perception that shows the man to have
great wisdom and incredible insight. And although he maintains a
seriousness for all his wisdom to come through; his presentation of the
facts is given in a humorou .....

Gatsbys Dream
<view this essay>.... he has created base on his dream, and his dream has elicited several qualities in Gatsby. Such dream and qualities make Gatsby appear to be the "knight in the shining armor." However, such dreams and qualities also lead Gatsby to his tragic end.
For one thing, Gatsby is amoral in many ways. First, he is a crook, a bootlegger who has involved himself with swindlers like Meyer Wolfshime, "the man who fixed the World Series back in 1919."(78) Secondly, he is dishonest, because he tells lies about himself. "I am the son of some wealthy people in the middle-west-all dead now. I was brought up in America but educated at Oxford because all my ancestors have been e .....
