As I Lay Dying: Styles Used By William Faulkner
<view this essay>.... of intuition is, and we learn an important family secret.
Darl is often used as an objective speaker, although he is indeed
involved with the situation he is speaking about. In this chapter he recalls
Jewel's purchase of his horse. This is a strong clue that Jewel is not Anse's
son, since Anse is extremely lazy and would never work as hard as Jewel did for
a horse. We also see the tension between Anse and Jewel. We see the lack of
respect Jewel has for Anse. It is rather ironic when Anse says "He's just lazy,
trying me" (p. 129) Since Jewel has been working really hard, and it is Anse who
is lazy. Furthering on Jewel and Anse's relationship, I feel that .....

Intertextuality Of To Kill A Mockingbird And A Blow, A Kiss
<view this essay>.... A Kiss" written by Tim Winton
The most pronounced section at the start of any story is character development. The story "A blow, A kiss" opens with Albie and his father travelling home from a fishing expedition in the front of a truck, Albie refers to his fathers warmth and smell as being "enough" to subdue their earlier bad luck, Immediately a strong bond is realised between Father and son. Other than this the only other clues to the identities of this pair is the references to Albie’s mother and the eventual evolution of their rural surroundings. In the novel "To kill a mockingbird" Harper Lee has adopted a style most novels are written in. The story ope .....

Catcher In The Rye: Comparison Of Holden And Me
<view this essay>.... Holden portrayed others to be inferior to his own kind all throughout
the book. He made several references as to how people aren't as perfect as
he was. "The reason he [Stradlater] fixed himself up to look good was
because he was madly in love with himself." (pg. 27) Holden had an
inferiority complex. He was afraid of not having any special talents or
abilities and used other methods to make him out to be a rough tough boy.
"Boy, I sat at that goddam bar till around one o'clock or so, getting drunk
as a bastard. I could hardly see straight." (pg. 150) Holden tried all he
could to fit in. He drank, cursed and criticized life in general to make it .....

The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn: A Satirical View Of The Old South
<view this essay>.... see this hypocrisy throughout the book when Huck is able to interact
with Jim and also learn from him while the southern slave society treats
Jim as nothing more than an object. We see the southern perception of
black people in chapter thirty-two when Huck tells to Aunt Sally his story
about the blown cylinder head. When she asks him if anyone was hurt he
said "no'm. Killed a nigger." When she shows no emotion in her reaction
it shows us how many southern whites looked at blacks. We also see at many
times during the novel that Huck and Jim have a true friendship. The go
out of their way at many times for the welfare of eachother and they

Critical Analysis Of The Jungl
<view this essay>.... financial aid from Jack London. There is no table of contents as it is written in the form of a novel. Likewise, there are very few footnotes and the footnotes it does have are on how to pronounce things. There is a bibliography in the back which lists all of his sources for information on meatpacking and his other documentation. For the most part it is historically accurate, as it tells the life of a man who works in a realistic meat packing setting. Because it is fictional, though, it probably would not be much of an aid to a historical researcher. The novel itself, containing over Three hundred pages, is rather long and tediously boring.

Candide 2
<view this essay>.... through that same use of sarcasm and irony, this proposal is actually written to entertain the upper-class. Therefore the true irony in this story lies not in the analyzation of minute details in the story, but rather in the context of the story as it is written. One of the voices that is present throughout the story is that of irony. The story itself is ironic since no one can take Swifts proposal seriously. This irony is clearly demonstrated at the end of the story; Swift makes it clear that this proposal would not affect him since his children were grown and his wife unable to have any more children. It would be rather absurd to think that a rational man .....

Morals And Psychological Aspects In Jane Eyre
<view this essay>.... strongly support this moral foundation. As a child she was
constantly accused of being dishonest. Mrs. Reed even informed Mr.
Brocklehurst that she was deceitful when she met with him before sending
her off to school. She tells him that he should "keep a strict eye on her,
and, above all, guard against her worst fault, a tendency to deceit." This
both infuriated and crushed Jane. She through experiences such as these
came to hate the idea of deceit along with anyone who practiced it. In
addition, Jane never saw justice. No matter how obvious it was that John
or one of his sisters were at fault Jane was always blamed.
By looking at Jane's moral va .....

Of Mice And Men: Friendship And Loyalty
<view this essay>.... they shared went beyond what was transparent they
each shared a dream and both knew they ment the world to each other.
I felt that if these totaly different people could get along and look out for
each other, why can't we get along with people who are differnt than us. They
made me realize that I could learn something from how to treat people who are
differnt than me. What I also liked about it was the way they never stopped
trying to reach their dream. This made me think that if they could work hard for
there dream why can't I. It showed me that it does not matter were you come from
or what you do, it is okay to dream and work as hard as you can to reach i .....
