his dreams. Rudkis's determination is also displayed when he tries to make a
good impression on his boss. He proves he is not lazy and “promptly reports for
work in the morning(pg.46) .”
Rudkis is also a caring man. His primary goal is to protect Ona, and
when he reaches America, he has every confidence he can do so. He works in
terrible conditions and endures many hardships merely to keep her happy. When
he lost his job, he earned mony immoraly. He does not do this for himself, but

Crime And Punishment
<view this essay>.... This shows that his inside wants to be free and knows the truth about his place among others, while the conscious part of his mind is not able to comprehend that until the very end. His mind is like a “fly as it … [beats] against [a] windowpane” (pg. 332) longing to join the world out there, but not understanding this desire rationally yet.
Marmeladov’s room is “suffocatingly hot, but [Katerina] [has] not opened the windows” and in Alyona’s apartment “all the windows … [are] closed, in spite of the stifling heat” (pg 114) the day he commits the crime. In the former place he leaves money on the windowsill, while in the latter he takes money away. In both cases, .....

The Light In The Forest: Analysis
<view this essay>.... as contrasted
to the whites attitude. Indians live with nature, appreciating its beauty and
enjoying its comfort while whites' seem to ignore the beauty and value nature
only according to its productive usefulness. In The Light in the Forest, whites,
for example, cut down the forest and clear land for farming.
I also was intrigued with how True Son spoke of his mother the Earth,
his uncle the Moon, and his brother-in-law the Wind. In today's society we seem
to concentrate on technology, while such oneness with nature is almost non-
existent.
As an author, Conrad Richter appears to be a skilled writer. I found
numerous strengths and only two weaknesse .....

The Anasazi Indians
<view this essay>.... very picky as to
where they lived. They chose to dwell in cliffs faced to catch the winter sun
and shaded in summer, with enough floodplain to grow something and a source of
water. These two story stone dwellings in cliffs were built large enough to fit
30 people in them. There is one odd fact about this: the Anasazi supposedly
carried roof beams more than 50 miles from the forests of Mt. Taylor and Chuskas.
These Indians lived as small scattered families of hunters and seed gatherers.
They developed agriculture, learned to make baskets and irrigate.
The Anasazi religion was very different compared to other religions of
the world. Anasazi Indians chose to bur .....

civility. Overall, Swift gives Gulliver a generally negative and cynical
attitude towards the manner in which his current day English counterparts
behaved cleverly disguised in the subtext of his encounters with other nations
that either contrasted the way they lived, or mirrored unflatteringly his
contemporaries lifestyles.
In Gulliver's first voyage to Lilliput, his role as the town giant not
only put into perspective the selfishness and unrelenting need for power of the
human race, but also opened his eyes to the untrusting and ungrateful nature of
those aforementioned. When he first arrived in th .....
