Another thing that gives the viewer the feeling that Half Dome is massive is the size of the moon in relation to the rock. Although it is actually small in the Earth's sky, the moon always has the influence of being great, and anything that dwarfs it can become ominous. The black and white of the photograph also assists in giving the viewer the impression that Half Dome is enormous. The darkness ....
