Although I really enjoyed reading A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen,
I also found this play to be very frustrating. Although Nora's relationship
with her husband was to be expected during the time it was written, it
annoyed me anyway. Throughout the play it was apparent that Torvald did
love Nora, but only in the way that o ....
Part 2 of Essay .... me." I a lso think that
Nora perfectly describes what her marriage actually is toward the end of
the play, when she tells Torvald, "…our home has been nothing but a play-
room. I've been your doll-wife here, just as at home I was Papa's doll-
child. And the children have been my dolls in their turn. I liked it when
you came and played with me, just as they liked it when I came and played
with them. That's what our marriage has been Torvald."
I think that it is at this point that Nora's world transforms ....
