No matter what she does she can no longer control this disorder
that has taken over her life. Slowly she walks down the hallway leading to
the torture that lies ahead. Stumbling into the bathroom, she calmly talks
herself into another episode as a desperate attempt to stay thin. Finally,
she slides her finger down her so ....
Part 2 of Essay .... began to recognize bulimic behavior in the late 19th century,
although it was never really taken seriously until the 1940’s, when it was
considered as a symptom of anorexia (Epstein 40). For many years bulimia
was associated with anorexia as if it was a joint disease. Finally, in
1979, doctor G.F.M. Russell was the first physician to describe this
disorder as a separate disease from anorexia to which he called it bulimia
nervosa (Epstein 40).
