Making Utilities For MS-DOS
<view this essay>.... a de facto standard should imply a good
deal of responsibility before the developers who make applications for that
platform. In particular, proper documentation is essential for such a platform.
Not providing enough documentation for a system that everyone uses can have
disastrous results. Think of it, an operating system is useless by itself, its
sole purpose is to provide services to applications. And who would be able to
develop applications for an operating system if the documentation for that
system is confidential and available only to the company that developed it?
Obviously, only the company that has developed that operating system will be
able to deve .....

Optical Storage Mediums
<view this essay>.... its advantages. It is of a short wavelength, so we
can place tracks very close together, and the size of the track we use is
dependent only on one thing - the color of the light we use. An optical medium
typically involves some sort of laser, for laser light does not diverge, so we
can pinpoint it to a specific place on the disk. By moving the laser a little
bit, we can change tracks on a disk, and this movement is very small, usually
less than a hairŐs width. This allows one to store an immense amount of data on
one disk. The light does not touch the disk surface, thereby not creating
friction, which leads to wear, so the life of an average optical disk i .....

Where Did UNIX Come From And Why Are There Different Versions Of UNIX?
<view this essay>.... Thompson and Dennis
Ritchie began to develop their own single-user, multi-tasking small operating
system and they chose the name UNIX. Their initial goal was simply to operate
their DEC PDP machines more effectively. In 1971, UNIX became multi-user and
multi-tasking, but it was still just being developed by a small group of
programmers who were trying to take advantage of the machines they had at hand.
(In other words, this operating system that they were developing did not run on
any machine made by Bell!)
In 1973, Dennis Ritchie rewrote the UNIX operating system in C (a language he
had developed.) And in 1975, the portability of the C programming language .....

management systems (Little and Benson 10-42).
A word processing program allows a user to efficiently and economically
create professional looking documents such as memoranda, letters, reports, and

the brink of yet another industrial revolution? Where shall this advance
take us? Into a global system of social relation and peace--where people
from all over the world can intertwine within a perfect Utopia? Or will it
cause pain and suffering due to a worldwide depression? A scale that would
be twenty-times the size of the Great Depression during the 1920's.
Technology has so wondrously and destructively marveled the human
mind and body throughout the centuries. From out of the dark depths .....

The Motor And How It Works
<view this essay>.... are equal because the current is always constant and the coils are the same on both sides of the motor. I also know that the fields are opposite because the current travels through solenoid 1 in an opposite direction of solenoid 4. The parts that make the motor spin are solenoids 2 and 3. When the current travels through the motor, it goes through the two metal pieces that send the current into whichever solenoid is touching it (solenoid 2 or 3). When part 5 spins, the direction of the current through 2 and 3 are reversed every time the motor spins half way around. The metal pieces touch the solenoids in just the right places to give solenoids 2 and 3 .....
