Gangs
<view this essay>.... I believe there is good evidence to point the blame at several
institutions. These include the forces of the media, the government,
theatre, drugs and our economic system.
On the surface, gangs are caused by peer pressure and greed. Many
teens in gangs will pressure peers into becoming part of a gang by making
it all sound glamorous. Money is also an crucial factor. A kid (a 6-10
year old, who is not yet a member) is shown that s/he could make $200 to
$400 for small part time gang jobs. Although these are important factors
they are not strong enough to make kids do things that are strongly against
their morals.
One of the ways that kids moral .....

Definition Essay Of Multiculturalism
<view this essay>.... demands that students accept what they are given. Where does indivduality come in to play? Obviously, no where in the minds of supporters of multicultralist ideals; they assumes that indivduality is determined by ethnicity. Instead of encouraging reason and independent judgment, multiculturalism demands obedience to one‘s ethnic group. The purpose of a university is not to be a representative of society but to help develop knowledge and reason. How can multiculturalists say that this is fair to society? A just society is a society that lets one determine his or her beliefs and doesn‘t try to influence them one way or another. Society by definition mean .....

What Is The Future Of The Family In Canada?
<view this essay>.... example, three-quarters of absentee fathers in Japan don't pay child
support. Furthermore, one third of all children in northern Europe are born to
mothers that are not married. It could be time to accept the fact that
"families, like everything else, evolve and change no matter how much resistance
they face." Although families are at a point where they are changing, it is
something the world can adjust to.
With families changing in recent decades, data still shows that families
are still the most important in people's lives. Following recent studies Robert
Glossop said that "Canadians continue to report that the most important things

Feminism And Gender Equality In The 1990s
<view this essay>.... as an oppressive force in their life. I find many parallels between women’s experiences in the nineties with Betty Friedan’s, in her essay “The Way We Were-1949.” She dealt with a society that expected women to fulfill certain roles. Those roles completely disregarded the needs of educated and motivated businesswomen and scientific women. Actually, the subtle message that society gave was that the educated woman was actually selfish and evil.
I remember in a particular story I once read and the effect it had on me. It was a story in the McCall Magazine dated December 1949, called “A Weekend with Daddy.” A little girl, who lives a lonely life with her .....

The Problems Of Affirmative Action
<view this essay>.... happens to belong to a minority group.
Affirmative Action was created to make up for past prejudices in an effort to create more equality between majorities and minorities. It requires businesses to hire a certain number of blacks, Asian, Latin-American, and women so that it will create more opportunities for people of minorities. Colleges also require a less severe requirement for those of a minority party because the number of the people that did fit the requirement would not fit the quota. Thus, many more deserving majority Americans were denied jobs and acceptance to college because the quota had to be met.
Affirmative Action promotes the hiring of les .....

Teenagers
<view this essay>.... something that nobody else can
really understand. Punks, stoners, new- wavers, skaters, surfers, and
other similar people fall into this category. The "moderate" sub-species
of the teenager may best be described as the classic teenager, or really a
teenager who epitomizes most of the qualities of a "normal" teenager. This
category comprises the widest range of people and could definitely be sub-
divided within itself. This particular category of teenager is slightly
vague as it can range from teenagers such as "jocks" to "brains". The last
of these categories, the "conservative" teenager describes the class of
teenagers who follow the rules and teaching .....
