Poverty
<view this essay>.... be considered .
In 1958 Gabraith stated that people are -stricken when their income, even if adequate for survival, falls radically behind that of the community.
Galbraith believes that poverty stricken individuals are degraded because they live outside the grades, which the community regards as acceptable.
An example of this can be found in Great Falls, MT at the government-housing complex. I have heard the residents labeled as poverty stricken poor, lazy, shady characters and bums among other things. As long as an individual resides in the “project: they will continue to be labeled by most citizens, others may resent them for costing tax payers money .....

Anomalies Are Not Always Wrong

Transsexualism and transvestism are variations from society's views of "normal" sexual behavior. These variations of the norm are explained as being disorders and are almost exclusively found in men. Transvestism is the activity of cross-dressing for sexual arousal from that specific object, whether it be clothing, shoes, or what. This can simply be called a fetish. The reasoning behind the few .....

Abstract Expressionism
<view this essay>.... simple images with in depth meanings. Despite the different styles that expressionist painters have, they share the same outlook of having individual freedom of expression. We will discuss the abstract expressionist style, and the influence that Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko had on expressionism. Who would ever think that a line or a color would trigger so many different conclusions to what message the artists were trying to relay?
began as lyrical and as a remembrance of the past that ended up forcefully and boldly dramatic. “Basic to most abstract expressionist painting were the attention paid to surface qualities, ie., qualities of brushstroke and textur .....

Right-Wing Hypocrisy
<view this essay>.... is anti-Christian and therefore an agent of the devil. I disagree
totally with that assessment. Just because someone is pro-choice or
doesn't attend church regularly doesn't mean he is not a good Christian. I
thought the teachings of Jesus encouraged tolerance and forgiveness, not
persecution.
For instance, these groups preach "family values", with the father
working, the mother cooking and cleaning, and the kids being subservient to
their parents. I am surprised more women don't find this sexist and
offensive. Roles in each individual family are, and should be, different.
People should adapt to life based on their individual talents, not .....

Feminism And Gender Equality In The 1990's
<view this essay>.... as an oppressive force in their life. I find many parallels
between women's experiences in the nineties with Betty Friedan's, in her
essay: The Way We Were - 1949. She dealt with a society that expected
women to fulfill certain roles. Those roles completely disregarded the
needs of educated and motivated business women and scientific women.
Actually, the subtle message that society gave was that the educated woman
was actually selfish and evil.
I remember in particular the searing effect on me, who once intended to be
a psychologist, of a story in McCall's in December 1949 called "A Weekend
with Daddy." A little girl who lives a lonely life with .....

Executive Women: Substance Plus Style
<view this essay>.... female managers are great. They mention that "the few studies
that have looked at women and men in comparable managerial roles have discovered
more similarities than differences across sexes" (Catalyst, 1986). A test bank
from "thousands of managers and professionals in management development programs
from 1978 to 1986" was cited as another reason why they believe there are few
differences between male and female executives. The tests revealed that
executive men and women scored equally on most areas and that executive women
are just as capable at leading, influencing, and motivating groups, as well as
analyzing problems. The authors go on to show that, des .....
