Global Warming 2 -
<view this essay>.... by the sun. Excess energy should reradiate back into space through the earth's atmosphere. But, because of increased carbon dioxide and methane in the earth because of emissions from polluters such as factories and cars, excess energy is trapped in the earth's atmosphere and causes a warming of the earth called "Global Warming."
Starting in the mid-1700s, human activities began to alter the composition of the atmosphere. Vast supplies of charcoal, and later coal and oil, fed the growing fires of the Industrial Revolution. The carbon stored in these fuels was released to the air as carbon dioxide - a gas that traps heat in the atmosphere. Today, for ever .....

The Invention Of The Telegram
<view this essay>.... make peace together, generous financial support and an understanding on our part that Mexico is to reconquer the lost territory in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. The settlement in detail is left to you. You will inform the President of the above most secretily as soon as the outbreak of war with the United States of America is certain and add the suggestion that he should, on his own initiative , invite Japan to immediate adherence and at the same time mediate between Japan and ourselves. Please call the President's attention to the fact that the ruthless employment of our submarines now follows the prospect of compelling England in a few months to make pea .....

Chromium
<view this essay>.... Chromium is added to other metals to make them harder and more
resistant to chemicals. Small quantities mixed with steel make the metal
stainless. Stainless steel is used to make cutlery and kitchen equipment
because it does not rust easily and takes a mirror-like polish. This steel
contains about 13 percent chromium and 0.3 percent carbon. The hardness of steel
can be increased by adding small quantities of chromium to it. Chromium steel
alloys (mixtures containing one or more metals) are used to make armor plating
for tanks and warships. They are also used for ball bearings and the hard
cutting edges of high-speed machine tools.
Nickel is high .....

research programs that I will discuss with you. The Spaceguard program is
sponsored and run by NASA Ames Space Science Division: Asteroid and Comet Impact
Hazard. Also under the direction of Dr. Tom Gehrels the University of Arizona
has the Spacewatch program.
NEOs can be either asteroid or comets. Ninety percent of the
information that I came across discussed asteroids. Therefore, I will
concentrate on asteroids alone. I'm not fully knowledgeable on the subject but
I did learn a great deal.
What are NEOs? The "Webster's New World Dictionary" states, "Any of the
small planets between Mars and Jupiter". The "Funk and Wagnalls Encyclo .....

What Is A Plant?
<view this essay>.... Some
plants, for example, are not green and do not produce their own food by
photosynthesis but are dependent on other plants for their food. Some
plants have limited powers of movement. So from this you can conclude that
the difference between plants and animals is vague, especially among the
more primitive forms.
Plant organs are organized into three kinds of organs: roots, stems,
and leaves. Roots anchor the plant into the ground and they also gather
minerals and water from the ground. Roots usually grow under ground and
downward. Roots have tiny “hairs” which increase the surface of the roots,
which results in more gathering of minerals and wate .....

Computer Virus
<view this essay>.... to determine how many floppy disks and hard drives had been infected. I wished I had learned about es a long time ago. What is a , anyway? Is it a computer with a cold? A computer "virus" is called a virus because of three distinct similarities to a biological virus. They are: ? They must have the ability to make copies of, or replicate, itself. ? They must have a need for a "host," or functional program to which it can attach. ? The virus must do some kind of harm to the computer system or at least cause some kind of unexpected or unwanted behaviour. Sometimes es just eat up memory or display annoying messages, but the more dangerous ones can destroy d .....

Forests And Oceans As Carbon Sinks
<view this essay>.... dioxide concentrations. This is done by examining tiny bubbles of air in the ice core at different levels below the present ice surface. The deeper layers in the ice core correspond to times in the more distant past. The air bubbles can be analysed for the relative abundance of carbon dioxide to estimate atmospheric carbon dioxide levels at times extending back 160 000 years. Through the ice sheet, we know that 160 000 years ago, carbon dioxide concentrations were about 180 ppm and have presently exceeded 350 ppm.
5) There are mainly 3 major sources of carbon dioxide presently and historically. They are industrial activity, land use change and cement .....
