Fern Life Cycle
<view this essay>.... our fern spores through the
dissecting microscope. We looked to see if we could find anything germinating.
We quickly noticed something that appeared like an air bubble squirting out
something green. This was our fern spore which was germinating. Next, we removed
a few of the germinating spores from the petri dish and put them under a
compound microscope scope. We found the spore wall and observed how the
developing gametophyte had broken through the wall, as instructed by our lab
manuals. One could also identify the chloroplasts with in the cell. We then put
up our dishes for another week.
The third week of our fern lab we identified the difference be .....

Pesticides
<view this essay>.... to kill rodents such as rats and mice. These rodents can carry bacteria that cause diseases like rabies and typhus, and can also contaminate food supplies. Insecticides are used by farmers who want to exterminate some of the many harmful insects that can carry disease. Insecticides are very widely used, not only on farms, but in residential areas in the form of products like Raid, and ant traps.
are dangerous to our environment, but in most cases they help more than they hurt. For example, it is estimated that the food supply would reduce by forty to fifty percent without the use of on our crops. The FDA, EPA, and the Department of Agriculture try to en .....

Psychology-Dreams
<view this essay>.... The senses of touch, taste, smell, and pain are not commonly experienced. Emotions are felt, but usually a single, powerful emotion is felt such as fear, anger, or joy, for example. Most dream content consists of memories, and are in the form of interrupted stories with frequent shifts of scene. One difference between waking and dreaming consciousness is that the latter tends to be an internal hallucinatory-like experience disconnected from the external world.
Many dreams collected in laboratories are rather common, but some people tend to experience some bizarre dreams. Early in the 20th century, Sigmund Freud believed that dream content was composed of .....

Nuclear Weapons
<view this essay>.... is divided, called fission or when light nuclei are forced together,
called fusion. In fission, a nucleus from a heavy element is bombarded with
neutrons. The nucleus breaks into two pieces, releasing energy and two or more
neutrons. Each of these neutrons has enough energy to split another heavy
nucleus, allowing the process to repeat itself. This is the chain reaction that
makes nuclear weapons possible. In a fusion nuclear device such as a hydrogen
bomb, lightweight nuclei are forced to fuse at very high temperatures into
heavier nuclei, releasing energy and a neutron. In order to squeeze the two
nuclei together, an atomic fission bomb is usually u .....

with the isotope. During this active period, while the atoms are
'decaying' to a stable state their energies can be used according to the
kind of energy they emit.
Since the mid 1900's radioactive wastes have been stored in different
manners, but since several years new ways of disposing and storing these
wastes have been developed so they may no longer be harmful. A very
advantageous way of storing radioactive wastes is by a process called
'vitrification'.
Vitrification is a semi-continuous process that enables the following
operations to be carried out with the same equipment: evaporation of the
waste solution mixed with the

Common Cold
<view this essay>.... inflection includes the flu and influenza. The flu is cause by a smaller family of viruses compares to the more severity of influenza, which is caused by more than 200 virus. Virtually finding a vaccine for the flu is very simple, but finding a vaccine for influenza is virtually nil.
Another cause of the is the Antibody for specific virus. Dr Stone thinks that the accumulation of stress tips the infected person over into illness. In his study of 72 married white men for a period of 12 weeks, in which they kept daily diaries of their stress. Researchers then measured the subjects' saliva for a substance called secretary immunoglbulin-A antibody, the less they .....

Growth Dynamics Of E. Coli In Varying Concentrations Of Nutrient Broths, PH, And In The Presence Of An Antibiotic
<view this essay>.... 7.0, and 8.0; and
finally a nutrient broth in the presence of the drug/antibiotic chloramphenicol.
A variety of OD readings were taken and calculations made to determine the
number of cells present after a given time. Then two graphs were plotted, Number
of cells per unit volume versus Time in minutes and Log of the number of cells
per unit volume versus Time growth curve. The final cell concentration for the
control was 619,500 cells/mL. Four media, after calculations, produced fewer
cells than that of the control, these were: Chloramphenicol producing 89,3 01
cells/ml; glucose producing 411,951 cells/mL; lactose producing 477,441 cells/mL
and finally pH 6 .....

Cloning 6
<view this essay>.... have a child who could live forever, they would do it. Cloning may be the answer to eternal youth. “He said the creation of transgenetic animals could be an important tool in ... ultimately stopping -- the aging process.” Becoming immortal is not the only plus to cloning.
Furthermore, the research of cloning has helped scientists become aware of the way genes operate. With continuous research into the ways of cloning scientists could come to understand the ways cells and genes work. As the information grows we will be able to get rid of genetic diseases and defects. “As geneticists have come to understand the ways in which genes operate, they have also .....
